The last decade has been the bane of English teachers everywhere– the shortcut spellings, txtspk (“text speak”), abbreviations and weird usage words have sprung up not the purpose of writing to communicate better but to better accommodate the entry of words on email, text messages and instant messages. Is this phenomena destroying the English competency of this generation?
