I think that was a month ago when I received an email about Yahoo finally shutting down MyBlogLog, which was already announced last year.
Now the thing that I’ll miss most about MyBlogLog is their recent readers widget which in the old days is a required part of every sidebar on every blog out there… way back when blogs and blog-hopping are popular (in this part of the world). So I did what any programmer would do in this situation, which is to look for or make an alternative. I did the latter.
And now, I present to you the Was Here widget.
Well, what is does is to log visitors as they come and displays their avatars in a grid. That’s it. It’s really easy to join too, just click on the Was Here icon (the one with the dashed border) and you will be prompted to log in via Facebook and authorize the application.
Adding the widget to your blog or tumblelog is simple, just go to the Was Here page and the code generator is there and after the code is generated, just copy and paste it to your blog template. No registration is needed. It works like a Facebook like button in a way that you can use the permalink of a page to show users that have visited that specific entry.
Click here to get the Was Here widget code via sudocode.

Blogging contests are a dime a dozen nowadays. Many bloggers are offering contests to promote their sites, ranging from Twitter contests to “blog about me” ones. However, here’s one blog contest that’s too good to be passed up. Entredropper is giving away a total of $130 in cold cash plus 2,000 Entrecard credits to 28 lucky winners!
When I read the contest requirements, I could hardly believe my eyes. It’s way easier than other blogging contests which require you to visit and sign up with numerous websites. I don’t even have to subscribe to their RSS feed, though I might do so if I win (sarcasm!). All I have to do is to write about my favorite Entrecard blogger (hmm…who might that be?) and then I qualify to receive the $40 first prize. Just what I need to buy the premium WordPress theme I want.
It’s such a shame that many web hosting companies often disregard the specific hosting requirements of WordPress users, despite the popularity of this open-source blogging platform. I have signed up with several web hosts and it’s quite frustrating to see that some WordPress plugins aren’t working because some server configuration issues!
I used to host my websites in a local web hosting company because I didn’t have Paypal or a credit card back then and thus was unable to pay for the bigger web hosting companies. To my costernation, some plugins went bonkers because some server configurations were disabled (for security reasons?). Add to that was the fact that support was virtually non-existent and it looked like the company was run by a bunch of salesmen who knew nothing about WordPress.
Good thing there’s a web hosting company tailor-made for WordPress fanatics like me. WPWebHost offers web hosting for WordPress bloggers, with its WordPress-compatible server, WordPress issues support, one-click installation, fast and stable server, and a 100 days money back guarantee (Wow, that’s three WordPress terms in one sentence!). All for only $5 a month.
I just had a hangover from the holidays and I’m feeling charitable. That’s because I’m thinking about giving away my blog’s unique WordPress theme to the public.
I designed this theme myself, taking several months in the process and countless hours of testing and fixing bugs. I could have taken the easy route and settled for the countless free and paid WordPress themes available out there, but I don’t want my blog to be “one of the many.” I mean, there’s satisfaction to be derived from having your own design for your blog, no matter how horrible it looks or how buggy it is.
HP Magic Giveaway is one very exciting online contest. 50 blogs are running their own contests which they will give away 50 prize packages worth more than $6000! I told you it was exciting. Contest mechanics and contest dates differ from blog to blog. You could learn more about this contest here, here and the schedules of the blog contests here. Good luck! NOTE: Contests are open worldwide (Do correct me if I’m wrong)

November 15, 2008- After spending precious moments with my team mates, I rushed immediately to home to change outfits! Yeah, you have to wear different attires on different occasions! That’s a rule of thumb for queers! Hahaha… My real plan is to sleep, nothing else but sleep! I know, I’ll be having weekend blasts of meet ups! As usual, I broke my own rules!
I didn’t sleep; instead I managed to upload our team lunch pix within an hour! When I’m done, I took a shower, put on my dress to kill fit, slid my portable to my white Corz bag and rushed to Figaro, the terraces of Ayala to see old and new faces of Cebu Bloggers Society!

I love contests. I join all types of contests, online and offline, ranging from essay writing to lotteries. No contest is too big nor too small for me, as long as it promises a significant reward that could be fame or fortune,or both.
So when I read that WP Webhost is organizing a contest for the Coolest WordPress Blog, I decided to try my puny luck and hope that destiny will see it fit to reward my audacity. Imagine, I’ve just been blogging for less than a month, and now I’m competing for $2,000 worth of prizes that are enough to make my head spin. Sure, 2,000 bucks is chump change for my idol Bill Gates, but that might be enough for me to jumpstart my fledgling Internet career and make me a future billionaire. That is, if you cooperate with me.
November 2, 2008- The Cebu Bloggers Society members were invited as guests by Jun Tariman of DYAB-Cebu in his tech segment program to discuss the basics of BLOGGING and how it evolved! It is a 30-minute segment given to the bloggers (3:00-3:30 pm). Yay! Thanks for this publicity!
Other topics mentioned out of the blue are tips on Search Engine Optimization (SEO), how to start Blogging for interested folks, earning money thru it (adsense) and promoting Cebu Bloggers Society in the airwaves! BTW, we are also on Live Webcast that time! Our spokeperson heading the group is Kevin and the supporting actors are Clarence, Empress, Sinjin, Zenia and definitely, the gorgeous X!

Narito po sila your majesty:
1. Nakuha ang unang pwesto ni Billycoy na idol ko sa pagsusulat ng buhay niya na puno ng dumi at pananamantala. Lapitin ng mga chiks at hen pati rin rooster na babading sa kanya.
