My stupid birthday is creeping up again. It is sending me to the pits. I joke around friends, demanding that they give me gifts and a surprise birthday party, but in reality I am so f*cked up right now. Depression is eating me up.

I usually hear people say that they’re depressed when what they really mean is that they’re sad. Everyone feels sad every now and then, but depression is a different thing. If you’ve been depressed, then you already know the difference. If you haven’t, then I won’t bother explaining it to you. Describing depression to someone who hasn’t been through it is like explaining the difference between red and green to someone who has been blind since birth.
