My mom, being the friendly neighborhood neighbor that she is (well, it’s more politeness than friendliness), shared with me a sort of touching story about one of our neighbors.

One of the families in our village was tasked to take care of the house that they’re living in since the person who owns it—a sibling—was working abroad. And apparently, the owner made it clear that they’re not allowed to hang Christmas lights anywhere in the house—because they might end up burning the house down. Of course they had to abide by the request; it wasn’t their house, anyway.
