I. Who may join?
PinoyBlog is open to all Filipino individuals.
“Filipino” means
(a) a Filipino citizen or
(b) of Filipino ancestry irrespective of citizenship.
Organizations, including corporations, religious groups and online communities are not qualified to join PinoyBlog. In case an individual signs up to register a community, corporate or group site, such shall be considered a group registration and shall be denied membership. This shall apply to any sneaky attempt to circumvent the rules.
II. How to join
First, you have to register. E-mail activation is required for membership along with an existing blog.
After registration, you will be sent an activation email to validate your membership. Your account will then be active as a Subscriber, which allows you to login and post comments on the site. We will be manually upgrading your account by checking your blog if it qualifies and then assign you an Author level which will now allow you to re-post an excerpt of your blog entry here.
III. Kinds of members
A. Owners of personal blogs
For purposes of joining PinoyBlog, not every website or web page is a blog even if the owner claims that it is. For a clearer understanding of the nature of a weblog, read this Wikipedia article.
B. Non-owners of personal blogs
IV. How to post entries
A. For members who own personal blogs
1) Log in (you will be redirected to the homepage after logging in).
2) Click “post an update”. When the control panel opens, click “publish”.
3) When the editing menu opens, type your blog name or blog entry title in the “title” field.
4) In the “URL to your weblog” field, type the URL of your blog in this format: http://www.yourdomain.com/ or http://www.yourdomain.com/blog or use the “a href” format [updated (11-1-04)].
5) Type a summary of your latest entry.
6) Click the “preview” button on the top right of the page and review your entry. Edit, if necessary.
7) Click the “submit” button.
B. For members without personal blogs
1) Log in (you will be redirected to the homepage after logging in).
2) Click “post an update”. When the control panel opens, click “publish”.
3) When the editing menu opens, type a descriptive title of your entry in the “title” field.
4) Type a summary of your lastest entry. Be sure to include at least one link pointing to your source.
5) Check or uncheck allow comments/trackbacks to your entry.
6) Click the “preview” button on the top right of the page and review your entry. Edit, if necessary.
7) Click the “submit” button.
V. Subject of blog entries
1) Members with personal weblogs may post :
(a) a summary of the latest entry in their personal weblog; or
(b) a summary with the proper links to an interesting article in some other website or blog.
2) Members without personal weblogs may post :
(a) a summary with the proper links to an interesting/useful/entertaining article in some other website or blog.
VI. Sticky Issues
1) PinoyBlog is a public blog. Please do not use it as your personal online diary.
2) Please do not alter the dates of your entries.
3) Do not password-protect your entries.
4) PinoyBlog is a GENERAL AUDIENCE site. The administrators reserve the right to decline any blog and/or entry that promotes, directly or indirectly, pornography, racism, war or other similar perversity. Any member who posts entries linking to sites with such content will be dropped from the membership rolls without need for prior notice.
5) Any attempt to use PinoyBlog for gathering e-mail addresses for spamming or similar purposes shall result in authomatic withdrawal of membership.
