There are ten people onstage, and they do everything from playing the musical instruments, moving the sets, changing costumes and even helping out with flashlights every now and then. Oh, and they sing and act, too! More…
For those who weren’t able to watch the Pinoy Dream Academy Special Part 1, here’s your chance to view it for free!
Hello again. I’ve been reading some of my rss subscriptions lately which I usually don’t do. And here’s one which I find intriguing but, perhaps, true. Don’t ask why I’m writing about it. I can’t just think of anything nice and love inspired for today. You can visit the article here. It says that one way girls assess men is through the type of women they are attracted to. As the article puts it; “Women are intensely interested in knowing what types of girls their man finds attractive — hence; the landmine, yet so innocently posed question, ‘Which of my friends do you find hot?’” This form of female preoccupation it says is based on the following maxims:
* Your girl compares herself to every woman she sees (especially
those you find attractive) because she wants to see how she stacks up.
* She sees the girls you’re into as a reflection of the kind of guy you are.

Name: Misa Campo
Ethnicity: Filipina German

But, I thought they would already enter the Pinoy Dream Academy house, but it was just a special episode announcing the NCR qualifiers. On tonight’s show, they started by showing the top 30 among the thousands of people who auditioned in NCR and Mega Manila. Then, one by one, they revealed the 12 remaining NCR Star dreamers. See the list here.
Cable TVs still busted and someone’s got to be real creative in order to not miss a weekly episode of something you look forward to going home to in a particular day of the week. Mine is Rockstar: Supernova. There’s something more real in the setup of this program compared to other talent reality shows that got me hooked. One’s the behind-the-scenes portion that takes as much time as the actual audition process. It makes the viewers care more and have a more tangent connection with the persons they see and it’s something I consider, for want of a better term, subliminal. Makes watching more meaningful. Emo kid.

Below are the original artists’ rendition (or another cover version but not done by the contestant) of what each of all 10 contestants sang on this week’s episode. Want to hear who really nailed it and who got to redrum the songs? Click away, listen, and you be the judge. As an added extra, click on the links by the rockstar contestant’s names and be led somewhere else.

I wonder if the Philippine Idol will remain true to the original premise of its American counterpart; that is, its winner to be ultimately chosen by the public. Thing is, existing singing contests produced by local major networks, despite their solicitation of public votes through cellphone texting, the final winner remains to be the sole discretion of the network executives. Hence, SMS votes are merely to create another revenue stream for the networks.
I can imagine it now:
Sandara: Laban ka, Angelica? *hadoken*
Angelica: *block* Yan lang ba kaya mo, krung krung?
Pops: Tabi dyan mga bata, ganito ang pagdidisplay ng katawan. *Martin sighs*

His music has become classic standards and no respectable jazz artist would be without a Gershwin in his repertoire. Balladeers from Frank Sinatra to Tony Bennet, as well as song stylists from George Michael to Rod Stewart had delved into the Gershwin catalog. And filmmakers like Woody Allen had used Gershwin’s orchestral work as soundtrack to his film Manhattan.
His songs — such as ‘S Wonderful, Our Love Is Here To Stay, Someone To Watch Over Me, Nice Work If You Can Get It, and But Not For Me — will remain forever etched in most music lovers’ hearts.

Among the NSync members, Lance Bass could be the one with the most unusual intrigues. First, he wanted to travel to space. Then, two years ago, there were rumors that he has had rhinoplasty. Look at his Before and After photos. He has a new feminized nose now.
Last week, gossips were spreading that he is gay. He was seen hanging out with Amazing Race star Reichen Lehmkuhl, also a known homosexual, on a popular gay bar in Massachussetts during the July 4 weekend. As I was writing this, Lance already made a “coming-out” statement on People magazine.
“I’m not ashamed,” Bass reportedly told the magazine. “I’m more liberated and happy than I’ve been my whole life.”
Bass says that he’s involved with Reichen Lehmkuhl and reportedly says that he kept his sexuality a secret mostly out of concern that it would hurt the boy band.
So there.

And speaking of music, whores and very bad decisions, it’s a sad day when even MADONNA needs to crucify herself to get some attention. I had no clue she intended to do it on tour, but when I saw her website, I was like, wo-oh, she’s run out of ideas now!
Oh, and my sister tells me JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE’s been off admitting using drugs and things that should make him tough and shit so people would buy his album and actually forget he’s a white boy from a boyband just because he uses drugs and hangs out way too much with SNOOP.
I swear to god, there will come a day when they’d have to show us their intestines wrapped around a cat they’re trying to strangulate for a pagan ritual that may spell the end of our world as we know it to get our attention. Or ride a real-life unicorn-dragon. With faeries. And an asteroid. With BRUCE WILLIS on it.
I don’t want to miss a thee-haaang!
The photograph featuring Fil-Australian model, Lani Pillinger, as the subject won 3rd place in the Apple of My i Photo Contest, which culminated last May 2006. Since then, a lot of my readers have been asking to see some pictures of her. While these are not the photos from the Apple of My i Contest, talented photographer, Carla Y. Berroya-Foster, was gracious enough to let me post some shots she took of Ms. Pillinger. So a big thank you goes out to Carla.

I was in the kitchen cooking when I heard this very familiar song blaring from Hubby’s hobby room. Memories came unbidden and brought me back to the younger, crazier, carefree days of my life. He apparently stumbled upon it online while researching on Tagalog. It just so happened that it was a cut from one of Gary Valenciano’s concerts of years ago when I toured with him as back up and guest singer. I started singing, dancing – basically going wild. Hubby was quite entertained, but still a bit puzzled. In between verses of singing, I managed to spit out that I was part of that live recording of the concert, that at some points, one of the voices that he was hearing was mine.

(musical couple? Hallmark card ito?!)
While scanning TV channels yesterday afternoon, I came across The Buzz, so naturally, I waited for the chismis headlines to be aired. Then they showed this teaser about a new couple — an international singer and a pop contest champ. To give that blind item feel, they blurred the faces of the celebs involved, at ang nasabi ko na lang… AY, HINDI HALATA KUNG SINO SILA. hahaha.
Changing channels from Studio 23 to ABS-CBN (Talo UP, ohcammon. at di ko pa nakikita si Karlos sa TV!), I waited for that feature about the couple. Intrigera tendencies calling. So there, it turned out to be Kris Lawrence and Jasmine Trias (ay hindi halata!). And it was just my uncontrollable intrigera tendencies that got me to watch that segment. Actually, (eto di na sarcastic) I really didn’t know who the guy was, based on the teaser they showed. So ok, it turned out to be Kris Lawrence. And yeah, I still had no idea who he was, until I did some research.
Kris Lawrence is the Search for the Star In A Million Season 2 Grand Champion. He was that guy who sang “When I See You Smile,” one song that I kept hearing over Love Radio during my Pen days at the laundry section & at the Pen Caf. Even then, I already disliked the song. wahahaha. Nakakatulig kasi! Just not my type.
The Philippines, being an oil-importing country, falls prey to OPEC and the ever escalating price of world crude oil and intermediately: gasoline.
To become not dependent on oil, we need viable, renewable, and sustainable alternative energy sources. While local celebrities have started an advocacy called 10 by 2010, calling for the enhancement of existing hydro, geothermal, solar, and wind to account for 10% of the country’s energy sources, the massive capitalization, machinery, and implementation of these sources renders the country virtually unprepared for petrocollapse.
There is a two-pronged solution: culture change and cold fusion. Read more…
