Are we holding off demanding an apology from Dumarpa… because we’re afraid of antagonizing Muslims? Do we tolerate usually abominable behavior if it’s tagged as “religious”? Should religious practices be respected at all?

More loaded questions here. Not for the easily offended.

“Let us rejoice
then and give thanks that we have become not only Christians, but Christ
himself. Marvel and rejoice: we have become Christ.” Pg. 210, #795

Wow! Notice that Catholics are not
merely Christians, they have become “Christ himself.”

Abortion and Contraception

Friday
Nov 24,2006

Abortion, which is legal in the United States, was on center stage a few months back. The controversy stemmed from the rulings of three appeals courts that declared the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act of 2003 as unconstitutional.  Read entry here.

Haram

This “slapping” incident would not likely happen at the City Council.

I guess we are more culturally and religiously sensitive than members of the House and/or their caterer in serving food during our official functions.

A Poem To Remember Loved Ones

Monday
Oct 30,2006

A typhoon passes through the city today and we find ourselves awash with grey and dreary skies. Not exactly the best weather to find oneself in a few days before the nation commemorates the day when we remember loved ones now gone. All Soul’s Day (November 1) is fast approaching and in the Philippines, everyone who has lost a loved one stops to pay respect to the one who has gone ahead, back to their REAL HOME.

Allow me for a moment to remember read the poem here…

Life According To HIM

“Has someone seen the life I planned? It seems it’s been misplaced. I’ve looked in every corner. It’s lost without a trace…” ~ Beth Moore~From the poem: “The Life I Planned ”

Like every young and idealistic woman out of college, I once believed in “happily ever after.”

In the same breath, my 1986 college yearbook write-up had Luke 22:42-43 for it’s opening verse “Father, if it is your will, take this cup away from me; yet not my will but yours be done.” I went to the best Jesuit university in the country and theology was very much a part of my four years in college. In a way, it is what supposedly set us apart — we were trained to become men and women for others. Theology back then was something we learned in our heads and not yet truly lived in our hearts. more here

Freewill vs. Destiny

Thursday
Oct 19,2006

I understand that one of God’s gift to mankind is Freewill (is it?). A predetermined end appears to be inconsistent with Freewill, for the end ceases to be predetermined if we are free to accept or reject it. On the other hand, Freewill is hardly free if, no matter what choice we make, we still end up with the same thing. Read this entry.

Should doctors always tell the truth? Do they?

These were the questions posed to a group of doctors and other members of the caring profession who listened to a talk by esteemed pathologist and Deputy Director of the National Kidney and Transplant Institute, Dr. Aileen Riego Javier on “Truth Telling In Medicine”. Dr. Javier currently heads the fact-finding team that is investigating the seven neo-natal deaths that took place at the Rizal Medical Center earlier this month. The results of that investigation are due by tomorrow, October 20. more here…

I Am a Fokking Prophet

“Speak to us regarding women.”

I didn’t see whoever said that, but I felt compelled to answer. “Women,” I said. “Of all things that have been put upon this earth, I am most glad that I am not a woman. A woman is a creature so arrogant that in her frailty she seeks to be called equal to man. Pleasant though some of them may be to the eye, their entire sex is nevertheless catalogued together with the very young, the very old, and the infirm: forsooth, the weak who, in the natural order of things, is cast as fodder to nourish those of us who are strong. Yet in our times the power of the strong is wasted caring for the weak. What does that make of the weak? Parasites. Verily, I say unto thee: women are vermin.”

Horror stories are still gaining popularity. Lot of experiences with wandering souls are told. Those who heard them believe them easily. But what do you think the Bible will say about them? Are they in accordance of the truth recorded on the Bible or a contradiction? Let’s examine them.

Two more days and I turn 42.

Turning 40 was a great thrill, 41 was so-so but this birthday is one that I especially look forward to if only for the fact that I lived to see another year! The very reason why the number of Christian sects today grow faster is the belief of many Christians especially those in the protestant sects, that Church affiliation has nothing to do with Salvation. For them, salvation will be obtained as long as man has faith in Christ even if he is a Catholic or Protestant or Born Again – whatsoever group he is with. And we will examine using the Holy Bible, how true is this belief.

Halloween is celebrated by Christians every year, on the night of October 31. But the question is — Is it in accordance with the will of God to celebrate Halloween?

Besides, Halloween is not even a Filipino tradition, or even Catholic for that matter I think. It’s a westernm culture we just adopted.

Let us examine what they teach to their church’s members about the Bible, for some preachers, especially the authorities of the Roman Catholic Church, insist that the Bible can’t be the sole guide to salvation because according to them, it does not contain all the truth necessary for eternal salvation, and that the truth written in the Bible about Christ is not complete.
