CC (no, not Creative Commons or carbon copy) is a broad term. One can argue that climate change is a natural process. True enough, because if there were no climate changes in Earth’s distant history we probably wouldn’t be here today. Imagine if our Planet never had rain, or say Earth stayed hot and never had ice ages. Maybe the dinosaurs will still be alive today, and instead of us humans on the top of the food-chain, we will probably be on the top of someone else’s diet!

Climate Change is good then, because it keeps this planet alive and it keeps it balance. But why are we discussing about it if it is a good, natural process? Why all this fuss? These seminars, Blog Action Day, and scary videos that the Earth is going to die soon with humanity in it if we don’t do something?

Dear Sir/ Madam,

Towards the end of this decade, we will hold our 61st Multiple District Convention. It is our desire to make history by holding the first, the grandest and the most memorable convention right in the capital and Heart of our country, Quezon City.

The city is the “Throbbing Heart” of the country not only because it is centrally located but it is where most of the government offices which manage the nation are located. It is a metropolis large enough to make many things possible from transport to communication.

Quezon City today, can boast of state of the art facilities with modern amenities to host local and international gatherings. It has enough hotels and lodging houses to house delegates and visitors. It is in the crossroads of all transportation means ( Airport, Rail System, Buses etc )from North to South and from East to West.

The city is “A Shoppers Paradise” where one can enjoy all kinds of merchandize from signature brands, imported items and Filipino creations.

The city is A City that Never Sleeps. One can enjoy dining and amusement hours from sun down to sun set.

Where else can you find a venue that may appeal to all your senses, food, music, shows and other kinds of amusements.

We are confident that we can host the 61st Multiple District Convention with meaning relating to the advocacy of community service we are tasked for including style and comfort for convention participants.

So we invite you to join us in our quest to Make History. Let us hold the 61st Multiple District State Convention in Quezon City for the first time ever.

Visit our website for more info http://www.lionsconvention2010.ph

Sincerely,

Lion Manny Cuasay
Chairman of Executive Board
Hosting Lions Club

I am sincerely thankful to Marilitz "thouights"

Tons of people worry on how to unload those excess baggage, getting rid of flab – slimming.
Going by today’s standards, to be slim is to be attractive. to look lean and mean with firm muscles is the anxiety which results in making aerobic and other fitness centers thrive as a booming business. Fitness programs with treatments compete for your hard-earned money, all promising to make you shed 20 to 30 unwanted pounds. Fat burners and slimming teas abound in the shelves of health food stores. Those without patience with the programs get an instant liposuction, surgical shortening of the small intestines or sewing of the stomach so to be smaller.

Weight loss actually is not a big problem with which to be burdened. To lose that excess weight is desirable, not just for superficial reason of so-called beauty standards. Actually, it is quite sad that people see others on the basis of the person within that body.
But be sure to lose that excess weight because having more fat in the body slows one down , invite diseases, and cause fatigue. Please consider that the first reason why one may be over-eating, though. Is it due to some emotional problem, or some glandular disorders? From there you can adopt a program for a more healthy living

Attention to diet is crucial. Your body is the result of your current eating habits. If your body is sickly or heavy on the scale, introduce changes gradually. Changing to a new good diet should not mean making abrupt stressful adjustment. You must be aware of the desirable and undesirable food identity.

Stay away from sweets, salty, fatty processed foods. You don’t have to live on a monotonous unpolished rice and veggies either. Fad diet are not the answer either to obesity or bad health. It deprive the body of essential nutrients and lower the body’s metabolic rate. What is needed is establishing a good ratio of nutrients by choosing good quality foods.

You must be aware of your individual requirements. Many of my friends who work with computers like to nibble while working. What do they nibble? Some salty, sweet processed junk food. It must be hard for them to go a weight control diet program. But still, you must find a healthy substitute to eat like dried fruits and fruit juices.

Work within a sensible framework, and occasional treats can be enjoyed without harm. Eat food as close to their natural state as possble. Add more raw food at the start of the meal, or follow the main meal suggestion twice a week, then three times until you are close to the recomended pattern.

Having fiber in one’s food is essential to anyone even if he/she is not in some trimming down program. Fiber comes from whole plants, wholen grains, vegetables, and fruits. it is bsically composed of the edible plant which forms the plant cell walls. Fiber is neither digested or absorbed in the small intestine; it is digested in the large intestine. Some of the digested products actually get into the body and significantly reduce the production of cholesterol.

Fiber is mainly a source of complex carbohydrates which releases gradual energy level into our blood sugar. Complex carbohydrates also does’nt shoot up our blood sugar leaving our body suddenly depleted with energy, a reaction given of by simple carbohydrates.

According to medical findings, fiber may protect you against cancer, may reduce the risk of coronay heart disease and help control obesity and diabetes. Fiber is essential in fostering healthy bowel movement and protects us against gall-stones, reduces cholesterol levels and ensures better health.

Avoid white bread, white sugar, dyed or artificially sweetened foods and drinks. Avoid meat, if possible, specially red meat. Eat plenty of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains like oats, brown rice and wheat. Take multi-vitamins and minerals three times a day. Minimize or avoid intake of artificial salt. Pay attention to trace minerals such as zinc and sulphur which are good for the skin.

Perhaps you have heard that when you are on a diet, one of the basic rules is NOT to starve yourself. Rather, you must eat the proper food that can lessen your weight but still provide energy for your body. To be continued……”thoughts”

Thanks to Marilitz “thoughts”.

I woke up a few mornings ago reminded that it’s not how hard you work, it’s how smart you work. Getting chores done just for the sake of getting them done is not always the best way to go. To truly accomplish something worthwhile, you have to focus on what you want and work backwards to achieve it. Figure out what your objective is and create steps that lead up to its completion. For instance, I have a client who goes a million miles an hour doing everything she can to get work off of her desk. She just starts with what’s on top of the pile and works her way down. But what in the pile is really relevant? urgent? important? And what about emails?

I would venture to say the tasks she has to do fit somewhere on a continuum of ‘somewhat important’ to ‘very important’, but not all of them are urgent (there are some folks out there, however, who have only a stack of urgent work).

Once she sorts out tasks that can be unloaded, she can focus on what is most core to her business. She will be freed up to work smart – being creative and innovative.

By focusing on getting rid of her busywork (working hard) allowing her to focus energy on growing her business (working smart), she will be much happier completing her objective.

- Large English-speaking population
- Lower infrastructure costs
- Government support
- Strong IT services industry
- Call center environment
- U.S. business hours (24 hour support also)
- Overnight turnarounds
- Similar financial and legal systems to the U.S.
- Filipino and Western culture affinity

I could go on. I’m sure I will in a future post.

Death experienced is a very painful experience.

It is common to see the loved ones of the person who just passed away, mourning and crying all tears at the funeral in front of the casket of the person who left them. They are in full misery, out of loved to the person who just died. They are missing the happy moments with him and everything around him. Whatever the relation they have to the person a wife or husband, father, mother, son, daughter or whatever, it is really painful specially when you have a long time of togetherness and bonding. Specially when the person is of good character even neighbors mourns for his death.

A loving husband so dear to his wife and children brings sorrows and pain to the ones being left behind and it will takes time to heal the pain. A responsible father, a good provider, a counselor and a good husband will be remembered by all the rest of his family. He did not bring any problems at home but instead he takes all the responsibility and give solutions to all members and kin. Everyone is proud for him and every good deeds he made was always praise at his wake, everything, his achievements, everything.

“Is daddy in heaven?” A tearful question of a young girl address to her mother.

The pain of death of a loved one is understandable, but do we ever think of the situation of the one who died? Yes, maybe at the time of his death bed, dying from a painful disease we can see or imagine his pain. But do we ever think of the pain while leaving your loved ones? Let put ourselves to the “one” leaving our loved ones, to the one dying…….

Have you ever wondered how some women are able to get men to run around them in circles? No, its probably not because they are extremely gorgeous, as most often, they are just normal. Many would utter an often used cliche such as “she’s got sex appeal”, as if she was born with such qualities bestowed upon a select few. I don’t believe sex appeal is what distinguishes these women so much men single them out from the thousands they can choose from. I simply think these women have that certain instinct about what men really want. I also believe these women are just so in tune with their own beauty, sexuality and self-esteem that they can freely adapt to the different kinds of men that they encounter.

Finally, this blog is up and kicking again after 2 or 3 days in hiatus. This site was hacked and malicious scripts were injected to it’s root folders resulting to missing php’s. Thanks to Jez for his assistance.

As you probably noticed, Sonnie’s Porch was in semi-hibernate mode for about 2 weeks, providing only short updates and picture sharing. Blame it to budget preparation and business planning, blogging & work, at times, don’t blend well. I hope with the long Christmas vacation, I’ll be providing regular updates with value adding content that everyone expected.

Let me start by blogging about the wedding of a person dear to us. As I shared in my Plurk page, the wedding made me teary eyed for 2 reasons:

I remembered my own wedding and the vow I made to my wife 16 years ago- As I see Bryan, the groom, wept as they exchange vow’s, I remembered myself weeping as I see my bride walk the aisles 16 years ago.

Likewise, the bride, Dess, is dearly loved by wifey and myself.

You can view the pics and the rest of the entries @ Sonnie’s Porch
