Villa Paulina is located in the City of Calamba
Calamba City is a first class city in the province of Laguna, Philippines. Situated only 54 kilometers south of Manila, about an hour by chartered bus, Calamba City is a popular tourist destination with its hot spring resorts, most of which are located in Barangay Pansol, and the Canlubang Golf and Country Club, site of many Philippine Opens. Calamba is also an important modern industrial center in the CALABARZON region as shown by the large number of industrial parks and business estates that are located in the city. According to the latest census, it has a population of 360,281 inhabitants in 58,466 households, making it the most populated town in Laguna province, with San Pedro, Santa Rosa City, Biñan City, and San Pablo City following it as the top 5 municipalities and cities with the highest population in the province. Calamba City is also the birthplace of José Rizal, the country’s national hero
Villa Paulina is located in the Province of Laguna
Laguna is a province of the Philippines found in the CALABARZON region in Luzon. Its capital is Santa Cruz and the province is located southeast of Metro Manila, south of the province of Rizal, west of Quezon, north of Batangas and east of Cavite. Laguna almost completely surrounds Laguna de Bay, the largest lake in the country. The province got its name from the Spanish word lago, which means lake or lagoon. Laguna is notable for being the birthplace of José Rizal, the country’s national hero. Laguna is also famous among tourists for the Pagsanján Falls, the University of the Philippines campus and the hot spring resorts in Los Baños on the slopes of Mount Makiling, Pila Town Plaza, Taytay Falls, Majayjay, the wood carvings and papier mache created by the people of Paeté, the turumba of Pákil, the Seven Lakes of San Pablo City and the Hidden Valley Springs in Calauan.
Villa Paulina Resort is blessed with Natural Hot Spring coming from the mystical Mt. Makiling
A hot spring is a spring that is produced by the emergence of geothermally heated groundwater from the Earth’s crust. There are hot springs all over the earth, on every continent and even under the oceans and seas. Because heated water can hold more dissolved solids, warm and especially hot springs also often have a very high mineral content, containing everything from simple calcium to lithium, and even radium. Because of both the folklore and the claimed medical value some of these springs have, they are often popular tourist destinations, and locations for rehabilitation clinics for those with disabilities.
Villa Paulina Resort is near Mount Makiling
Mount Makiling, also rarely Mount Maquiling, is a potentially active volcano in Laguna province on the island of Luzon, Philippines. It rises to 1,090 m above mean sea level. Legends surround the mountain, many of which relate to Maria Makiling, said to be the ‘guardian fairy’ of the mountain. The contour of the mountain is said to be that of her in a reclining position. Mt. Makiling is a popular hiking destination. The two major trails begin at the UPLB College of Forestry and Brgy. San Miguel, Sto. Tomas, Batangas. The UPLB trail is more commonly used, taking 4–5 hours to reach the summit (Peak 2). However, this trail is closed as of October 2007 due to trail damage wrought by Typhoon Xangsane on September 2006. The other trail from Sto. Tomas passes by other peaks, is more difficult, and requires 6–7 hours to reach the summit. Both trails are generally established and safe, although throughout the years there have been occasional reports of fatal accidents and injuries, especially on the Sto. Tomas side. Climbers also frequently encounter leeches along the way.
Villa Paulina Resort is near Laguna Lake
Laguna de Bay is the largest lake in the Philippines and the third largest freshwater lake in Southeast Asia (in terms of surface area) after Tonle Sap in Cambodia and Lake Toba in Sumatra, Indonesia. It is on the island of Luzon between the provinces of Laguna to the south and Rizal to the north. Metro Manila lies on its western shore. Its surface area is 949 square kilometers and has an average depth of only about 2 meters. The lake is shaped like a stylised ‘W’, with two peninsulas jutting out from the northern shore. Between these peninsulas, the middle lobe fills a large volcanic caldera. Laguna de Bay drains to Manila Bay via the Pasig River. The lake is one of the primary sources of freshwater fish in the country. There is a large island in the lake, Talim Island, which is under the jurisdiction of the towns of Binangonan and Cardona in Rizal province.

The stumbling block in the most-awaited boxing fight in recent history, the planned Manny Paquiao vs. Floyd Mayweather, Jr., has been the insistence of Mayweather’s camp and the refusal of Manny Paquiao to undergo Olympic-style drug testing which requires blood testing and not just urine testing. What really is the difference? Read urine testing vs. blood testing in Paquiao vs. Mayweather at Pinoy Seminars.
LAS VEGAS, Nevada, United States—Manny Pacquiao will not fight Floyd Mayweather next March because a blood testing stalemate wiped out what could have been the richest fight in boxing history, promoter Bob Arum said Thursday.
The planned showdown between Filipino hero Pacquiao, a seven-division world champion, and unbeaten US star Mayweather could have brought each fighter as much as $40 million in a rare Las Vegas mega-fight spectacular.
Arum, Pacquiao’s promoter, said Mayweather’s request to have stricter US Anti-Doping Agency (Usada) testing methods, including possible random blood tests within days of the bout, killed any hope of reaching a deal.
“It’s over,” Arum said. “As far as I’m concerned the fight is over.”

Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano, the White House point person on immigration, said Friday that Congress must provide temporary worker programs and a path to citizenship for 12 million undocumented workers when it takes up reform legislation next year.
// <![CDATA[//
Napolitano was optimistic a reform bill could pass in an election year because border security goals have been met and the economic downturn has decreased illegal immigration significantly since a bipartisan bill died in the Senate two years ago.
“I know a major shift when I see one, and what I have seen makes reform far more attainable this time around,” Napolitano said at a speech at the Center for American Progress, a liberal think tank and advocate for immigration reform.
Since reform efforts fell short in 2007, Napolitano said U.S. Customs and Border Protection has increased its force to 20,000 agents, and the Department of Homeland Security built more than 600 miles of border fence and barriers. She also said the economic downturn has reduced illegal immigration by more than half.
Congressional Republicans panned the administration’s claims that the border is secured, and reiterated their opposition to citizenship for undocumented immigrants.
“It is ironic that a poor economy is their justification for amnesty,” said Rep. Lamar Smith, R-Texas. Smith said there are 400 open miles of border with Mexico, hundreds of thousands of criminal “aliens” residing in the United States and illegal immigrants taking American jobs.
Republicans blocked passage of a bipartisan Senate bill in 2007, largely over the citizenship provision in the legislation.
An immigration reform bill that includes citizenship for undocumented immigrants is expected to be filed in the House as early as next month by Rep. Luis Gutierrez, D-Ill. Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., said he will file a bill in the Senate early next year. He favors a citizenship plan, but also wants increased border security measures.
Although Democrats control the House and Senate, some conservative Democrats oppose a citizenship program, and some labor unions are against guest worker programs.
Napolitano said the citizenship program should require that they pay taxes, pass a criminal background check and learn English.
The administration also wants an increase in visas for highly skilled workers, guest worker programs for agriculture and service industries, and family unification measures.
