It’ll be light in a little over an hour, I think, and I’m having trouble sleeping. It’s so quiet, not even the jeepneys are out this late, it seems. Nothing to break the peaceful silence. Methinks it’s time for some early morning blues.
Jeepney talks about a chance encounter between an ordinary guy and a hot chick while riding the *ehem* Jeepney, and the awkwardness of trying to strike up a conversation with someone who’s out of your league. I love the song because it’s so typical, so reflective of ordinary life in Manila. It doesn’t use any fancy metaphors or allusions (that I’m aware of), and is instantly accessible.
Narda by Kamikazee is a simple yet witty song that’s very fun to play with. This is Single Song Breakdown, where I take a song apart and basically teach you how to play the song the way I would.
If I remember correctly, there were four front bands. They alone were worth the entrance fee already. They were all good. I was impressed. I enjoyed their music even though I haven’t heard those songs before. AND THEN CAME QUESO.

The taxi ride tonight was a bit surreal. At first, I thought I was hearing some pseudo church music along with the cab’s two-way radio. Then I realized that the music was coming from the car stereo. The cab driver was playing music with nothing but “Hare Krishna” in the lyrics.
