I love the Philippines. I love the Philippines when it comes to handling voice support and business process outsourcing. Why?
- Large English-speaking population
- Lower infrastructure costs
- Government support
- Strong IT services industry
- Call center environment
- U.S. business hours (24 hour support also)
- Overnight turnarounds
- Similar financial and legal systems to the U.S.
- Filipino and Western culture affinity
I could go on. I’m sure I will in a future post.
I really don’t understand why some online sellers post the details of their transactions — like the buyer’s full name and what he/she bought. If I were the buyer, I certainly would not want that. It’s like going to the mall and buying something, and the saleslady going to the PA system and announcing to everyone “Attention! Miss Jane Doe just bought panties sized XXL.”
One more thing that turns me off is the negativity of many sites. It’s common to see statements like “If you can’t pay blah blah blah, then don’t bid/buy.” Then there are halls of shame and blog posts declaring war against bogus buyers.
For most of the Filipino working class, the usual scenario is that you spend most of your time working your ass off.
Every day, you wake up six in the morning; eat a quick breakfast of instant noodles, and after that, you spent 30 to 45 minutes commuting to work. And then you spend most of your day in the office. Sometimes you may do routine office tasks, while sometimes you may be out doing fieldwork or sales work.
And then finally, you get home early in the evening. <a href=”For most of the Filipino working class, the usual scenario is that you spend most of your time working your ass off.

“Ay sir sorry po, iba kasi yung rice na ginagamit namin dito.”
so while everywhere else in the Philippines, Filipinos are happy that the Tokyo Tokyo franchises have joined the ranks of Inasal in giving unlimited rice to their customers, TOKYO TOKYO VITO CRUZ doesn’t serve UNLIMITED RICE.
QUESTION: Is this how the TOKYO TOKYO franchise operates? They open in the Taft U-Belt and probably think they can charge 5 pesos per extra rice and NOT GIVE the usual UNLIMITED RICE offer BECAUSE their customers are from DLSU, DLS-CSB and St. Scho?
EPIC BRANDING FAIL
plurk here, here, here and here
oh and it’s also on Twitter now
UPDATE:
Apparently, this a “new setup” according to review here about Tokyo Tokyo Tarlac city. To quote:
“The new branch at Tarlac City is most welcome since me and my family are avid fans of this resto. However, it surprised me to learn last Dec. 26 when dining with my family that this branch does not offer unlimited rice as in all other branches in the Philippines. One of the crew said that it is a “new setup.” What new setup is that!? Besides, the rice they are serving (Thai Rice daw, w/c I doubt)is not cooked Japanese style (buhaghag) so you can’t use your chopstick properly.
Attention!!! TokyoTokyo franchising, what is this new setup that has altered by conception of your food…. Just asking”
oh well.

I hope that Earth Hour Campaign promoters will not claim the 84.2 mw deviation of the forecasted and actual demand on the 22nd trading interval (9:00pm – 10:00pm) in the Spot Market (WESM) as the result of the simultaneous switching-off of lights, primarily because the deviation is within the forecast error on that day. The index showed strength on the opening of the market last Monday with a gap up accompanied with a large volume. It zoomed past the 65 day MA(red line) and closed just above the 130 day MA (yellow line). The index was also able to move above the logical resistance at 2000, which for the past 3 months has been impenetrable. [read full analysis]

About ENGY
The strip revolves on business and office politics, and the hilarious world of a group of people working on a technology company as they try to elbow each other to win and survive in the rat race. It is meant as an entertainment medium, and as with most comics, relies on exaggeration to create reaction. This strip is not meant to educate people on how to manage a business, nor does it bear any resemblance to the management or personalities in the actual world.
The following are the main characters in the story:
Engy is the General Manager of the company. He reads a lot of management books , believes a lot of management fads, and thinks he is smart, but many times, he is not at all. He is a very ‘trying’ manager who believes it is important to think out of the box, even if most of the time, he does not know where the box is.
Tom is the President of the company. He is a trader who made his money in retail, and decided to invest in the technology company because he thinks it is the ‘future’. He pretends that he worked with mainframes before, and always tell stories of his experiences, but the truth is, comprehending technology is beyond him. He loves money too much, but he is not really a bad guy.
Jim is a project manager of the company. He rose from the ranks in the company. He is passionate on technology, and is not afraid to say what he feels.

EMC Corporation, the world leader in information infrastructure solutions, is kicking off 2009 in Cebu Philippines with a road show on March 5 that will reinforce its drive to evangelize on the five critical aspects of information infrastructure among a much broader cross section of business in the country.
“The Power of Super Businesses,” EMC Philippines’ inaugural event for the year, will bring new legions of small- to medium Philippine businesses (SMBs) in Metro Cebu up to speed on technologies and solutions pertaining to storage, protection, intelligence, virtualization and automation (SPIVA), EMC’s five critical approaches to data management.
The road show will elevate to new levels EMC Philippines’ campaign, which started last year, to target non-traditional markets in the country. Primarily known in the Philippines as a company that caters to the high-end information infrastructure needs of top Philippine corporations, EMC has begun to gear its enterprise technologies and solutions to SMBs as well.
