I came to know these stats from the presentation of Noime in the 1st blogcon and thru the blog of Angelo.

• 55% of bloggers are
• 20% of bloggers are between 20 to 29 years old
• 71% are male
• 84% are single
• 97% have their own computers at home

Though I’m into blogging for not so long, I’ve came across different blogs–

• Blogs for social networking– those that share personal matters. Most of these blogs are hosted for free in lieu of the earnings from adsense
• Group blogs– like the services offered by multiply and friendster. The concept was similar to yahoo groups, wherein bloggers of similar interest exchange ideas thru these blogs.
• Problogs– those who have their own domain and earn in various ways from adsense, endorsements, etc. These blogs have successfully developed a niche and became popular.

But seldom I see blogs whose intent is to add value and build people– or perhaps there are more blogs of this kind but are still unnoticed. Furthermore, people and professional groups perhaps are still in the “old school” and have not heard yet of the popularity of “blogging”.

Anyway, I just hope as more voices compete to be heard in the blogosphere, blogs that make a difference, that advocate change, that build people and society can make their way and also be heard.
