On October 28th, 2009, President Obama signed into law the FY10 Department of Homeland Security Appropriations Bill (P.L.111-83).

The new Law extends the non-minister religious worker (section 568), the “Conrad 30″ (section 568), the EB-5 visa (section 548), and the E-Verify (section 547) programs through September 30, 2012.

The Law also includes statutory authority for CIS to complete the processing of permanent residence applications for surviving spouses and other relatives of immigration sponsors who die during the adjudication process (section 568).

With the initial hype that comes with a new place gone, I was secretly hoping that Charlie’s would not be too crowded for lunch. It was almost 1pm after all so I fully expected that only the regular clients remained. But we arrived to find no table available and there was quite a wait for us to do before we were able to enjoy the food that many foodies have talked and written about.
Being so close to where I worked, many were surprised that I hadn’t even tried Charlie’s famous Philly Cheesesteak or their Buffalo Chicken Wings. I have long since resigned to the fact that there are certain expectations when people know you write about food. So my friends were supportive when I suggested we eat at Charlie’s and off we went and waited for a few minutes for a table.

I have always wondered why there are very few women here who wear red stilettos. I have worked for so many years at the city’s business district and have always paid attention to someone’s shoes. But I cannot recall that I have ever seen more than a handful of women trotting in red shoes. Most of the time, they wore unexciting, forgettable pairs. Not one pair made me stop and stare and with wide eyes mutter – “I want those shoes!”.

I think I have turned into a lip balmaholic, a lip balm addict. I must have at least 10 different brands of lip balm on hand and stored in my makeup kit. Some of them are still unopened to this day. I have some at the office, in my bag, and at home. When I chance upon new lip balms in shops or stores, I cannot help but look and browse. Feeding a household that is composed of a family of 4 (3 boys) and 2 nannies can be a strain to one’s creativity in the kitchen. Too many times, I hear the frustrated sighs of “Again?!”, when the kids find out what is being served for dinner.
