The Pakalistas decided to try Mexican food at Mooon Cafe at The Walk in I.T. Park, Lahug. The food they say was not as impressive as those served at the original restaurant in Guadalupe. Be that as it may, the one at The Walk is still a great Cebu restaurant to visit. There aren’t that many restaurants in Cebu with such lively decor. The food is okay, and the ambiance is okay too.

Check out the Pakalistas’ food choices at Mooon Cafe here.

November 15, 2008- After spending precious moments with my team mates, I rushed immediately to home to change outfits! Yeah, you have to wear different attires on different occasions! That’s a rule of thumb for queers! Hahaha… My real plan is to sleep, nothing else but sleep! I know, I’ll be having weekend blasts of meet ups! As usual, I broke my own rules!

I didn’t sleep; instead I managed to upload our team lunch pix within an hour! When I’m done, I took a shower, put on my dress to kill fit, slid my portable to my white Corz bag and rushed to Figaro, the terraces of Ayala to see old and new faces of Cebu Bloggers Society!

The girlfriend and I love this quaint little restaurant near her school. The place serves awesome pasta, ginormous porkchops, and their specialty, buffalo wings. You see, I love buffalo wings. If there was a kid in chicken wing school who bullied all those nerdy asthmatic chicken wings and gave them wedgies, it must be the buffalo wings. I swear, they have an almost genetic advantage in terms of awesomeness over all those plain stupid fried chicken wings. And let’s not get started on how wimpy and lame-ass tinola wings are. Sheesh.

wild wings

Anyway, for the longest time, their menu has piqued my curiosity. Okay, anything with food names written on it makes me curious and horny, but you didn’t need to know that. So my point is that this restaurant serves the most number of buffalo wing variations ever. All my life I thought that there was only one kind of buffalo wings, and that it is heavenly enough already.

Turns out I’ve been living a lie all along. You see, there are four varieties of buffalo wings. And one of them is called “Wild”. Yes, wild. Like your mom last night. Read More »

CEO Beats Michael Jordan on 1-on-1

If you ask most people who they think is the best basketball player of all time and I’m sure their answer would be Michael Jordan. I’m sure not everyone will agree on that but we can all say that he’s one of the best basketball players ever, right?

Because of his skills, exploits, hightlight reels and achievements in the basketball court, you’d think that no one could ever beat Michael Jordan in a game of one-on-one.

Earlier this year, during one of the sessions in Michael Jordan’s exclusive basketball camp called Flight School, an ordinary guy, a CEO for a mutual funds company named John Roger Jr. did the inevitable. He beat Michael Jordan in a game of one-on-one.

You don’t believe it? Well, there’s only one thing to do and that is to click HERE and check out the video of what happened.

Teriyaki BOY

Sunday

Name of Establishment: Teriyaki BOY
Location: 2nd fl, the Terraces of Ayala Center Cebu
Types of Food: Japanese Style Cuisine
Over-all place: Feel the Japanese Ambience
Ratings (1-5): 5

“Teriyaki BOY never tasted yucky to me”

When the terraces of Ayala Center Cebu opened its food-lobbies to the locals and tourists of Cebu, the very first restaurant that I self-feasted is Teriyaki Boy. I so much heard about it through my buddy’s reviews. I surely did try to dash in to taste whether TB really is worth a dining experience. I obviously went their alone! My work pals just backed out due to some personal reasons that are unavoidable. Good thing, I still have the heart to understand them!

The Interiors:

It just opened its doors to possible Cebuano regulars so the place is really clean and the flat dining boards and seats are spanking new. The yellow color is dominant surrounding the whole zone. The area has a capacity for only a number of seats. It’s not really spacious but the dining tables are set confined for you to have at least a good dining experience. The aisles are skimpy and more chances of elbow-rubbing with other guests. Now, that could make you uncomfortable. Well, you better concentrate on their food. It’s mores surprising!

“Napa-flatter po talaga ako pag sinasabi ni David Pomeranz na I can sing very well.

“I have always been dreaming of being directed by such wonderful filmmaker as Chito Roño,” pahayag ni Cuneta.

***

Dumagsa ang movie kabilang sina Chito P. ALcid, Art Tapalla, Linda Cabuhayan, Gil Gomez, Felix Espinosa, Lucy Sevilla, Cita Sarabia, Beth de los Santos, Chat Santos, George Vail Kabristante, Voltaire Lanuza at marami pang iba.

Although I have been married for 3 years, I did not go through the process in the traditional Filipino way. How did I do mine, you might ask? Well that’s not what today’s story is about so you just have to wait for THAT post.

Moving on. It was technically a first time for all of us (my brother, my sister and I) to formally present ourselves to the family of the girl my brother is wooing. We gathered family members and extended ones and drove to the northern part of the metro to meet them.

For the Philippines who rely hugely on overseas remittances, what is happening to the world around it most especially to the United States is utterly disconcerting. Last year, the 11 million strong overseas workers (that’s about 11% of the Philippine population!) sent $14 billion to pump the economy. There are 4 million expatriates from the US alone and about 2 million from the Middle East sending remittances, buying properties and creating businesses (=jobs) in the Philippines. This year while it is expected to remain the same, it is already forecasting a decline in 2009. Who knows how many of these 11 million overseas workers will be sent back home or will lose their jobs in the coming months?

While the US dependency on foreign oil is believed to be the major culprit of its economic fall, the Philippines’ major dependency on its biggest export- its human resources doesn’t seem to be a cause for concern at all for the government. In fact they even brag to the whole world that the overseas Filipino workers (OFW) are the lifeblood of the economy pumping those dollars to support the country’s stability and economy.

In short, thanking the overseas workers for NOT having have to lift a hand, for NOT having have to do their own laundry or wash their own dishes, for NOT getting their hands dirty, for NOT having have to sweat blood and tears because the overseas workers are doing it for them!
