There is a famous anecdote about Andrew Carnegie which illustrates his understanding on motivation.
During one of his meetings with his sister Lucy, she heard her
sister complained that her son was not answering her mail while he was
in college. Without missing a beat, Carnegie told her sister that he
could bet her $10 that he would write the young boy, and get a response. Read more.
For too long, short films have remained the forgotten art form; a consistently underrated medium that has never been given the exposure it demands. Even with the emerging popularity of independent films in the Philippines, short films are still seen as “front acts” for full-length features or “sidebars” at local film festivals.
The NBI ID Card is now the most recommended and honoured Identification Card in the Philippines, with banks leading this “practice”, making it a de facto National ID. What is this NBI ID Card anyway? Is it really the National ID in practice? Will it become the National ID by law? Is it ready?

I have had the fortune to have had a tough life, which has molded me to the person I am today.
One of the quotes I treasure, and the reason I advocate in slow rise to success is the belief that ‘the skills you learn on your rise to success are the skills that will keep you there. ‘
In fact, I believe in being tough and exacting on ourselves, and on our loved ones. From my experience, I have always learned that , “Be tough on yourself, and Life will be easier on you. ” It means… Read more

I have read a lot of reviews from different products from different people. Some are very informative while some are pretty biased but from time to time, you’ll find something that will make you smile. Now keep in mind that this is an actual review from a user of Amazon.com about Ubuntu.
I have always been obsessive compulsive. One of the quirks I have as a result of that is my inability to write effectively if I happen to be writing on coarse paper using a Panda ballpen. You must now be shaking your head in disbelief but I swear I have two other friends who are like me (in an expression of feigned ignorance).
So when I was in school, I always begged my mom to buy me Corona notebooks. I would smell the crisp and smooth pages and I would be in heaven. I am also quite addicted to fine point pens and the PILOT brand is my best friend.
If you could see the way Jackie looked like when she was first brought in, you would never think she’s the same one in the picture to the right. Jackie was rescued by a volunteer from an abandoned parking lot with 2 other dogs, with no food and roof to protect them from sun and rain. She barely had any fur left because of severe mange! Now look at her!
Jackie’s one of my favorites at the shelter (Jasmine‘s the other one but please don’t tell the other dogs! shhh!). To me, this dog is the shelter’s perpetual puppy….

With the rising prices of fuel, it won’t be a surprise if the gas price will hit the Php60.00 mark by next month. It could even be earlier. Almost every week, all the major oil companies are adding at least php1.00 per liter.

Sources tell us that Sea Oil will be challenging this rising gas prices by introducing a flat rate scheme via a prepaid card. Price tag will be Php53.50 per liter with each card tanking 20 liters.
These prepaid cards can only be bought in a 1 week window — from June 10 to 16, 2008. The cards can be bought from Sea Oil stations or special booths — Metrowalk and Tiendesitas in Pasig City, Greenhills Shopping Center in San Juan and Shopwise in Cubao, Quezon City.
Price Lock Prepaid Fuel Card can be used to buy 20 liters of gasoline (G5 X-treme and Unleaded) from any SEAOIL participating stations. The selling period is from June 10-16, 2008. Each card costs P1,070 and is valid for 10 weeks (June 10 up to August 16, 2008).
This assures car owners that whether gas prices will go up, they will still get the flat rate of Php53.50. Sea Oil will also be honoring a money-back guarantee if ever the gas prices go down (which is close to impossible).
If a student raises her hand in a class on Philippine literature and says, “Hindi ko maintindihan ang Tagalog” (I can’t understand the Tagalog), should the teacher say, “Eh kasi tanga ka” (That’s because you’re stupid)? Well, this was essentially what happened when blogger-columnist Connie Veneracion complained that she and her husband, who were in fact trying to help their daughter, couldn’t understand the Tagalog used in Mga Ibong Mandaragit by Amado Hernandez. I had a special love for cats. Among all the pets that I can have, I think cats are animals that have something you can call a ‘personality.’ They can be aloof, a bum, sweet, playful, wild (cats playing with yarn balls) or whenever there’s food, they can be all over the place. In short, they can be unpredictable. One minute you’re playing with them, another minute you have a scratch in your hand. Not that it’s their fault. They still think you’re playing them. Maybe I just love cats because of their purring (scientists say it’s some form of communication). Read more …

As part of my money-making mode, I have decided to start selling stuff on eBay. I’ve been a member for the longest time and I’ve spent time surfing and looking at sale posts on eBay. It seems like lots of people do sell insane numbers of items on eBay at either ridiculously low prices or skyrocketing amounts!
I’m gonna start looking at what really sells on eBay so that I can get on the bandwagon. I also need to see if there are merchant charges and other fees that I might have to pay eBay for.
Nope, it’s not the FB you’re thinking about. It’s about having the ideal digg friends who’ll digg your shouts and more. We all know that there are different kinds of digg users. Some of them are good for you and your content promotion, while others are simply not interested. There are digg users who are picky with their friends, and then there are those who just befriend anyone they could get their eyes on. I guess being picky for a right reason saves you the effort of having to add too many friends in exchange for better submission promotion. Why add 100 friends when all you need is maybe a carefully chosen 75 or half of it and get the same benefits. Of course, it sounds ridiculous since we all have reasons why we join digg and why we add friends, but if you’re interested in getting more from your “please digg shouts”, maybe filtering out the less responsive digg users from your potential friend list is a better option.
Summer’s over and it is “back-to-school fever” here in the country. This year, we are encouraging everybody to follow this simple green school tips.
Kid’s Baon. There are cafeterias saying “no-no” to disposable containers. This means kids would have to use insulated baon containers, or washable lunch kits. This is to atleast help minimize the bulk of cafeteria wastes like soiled tissue, tetra packs, or juice cans.
But let’s not talk about the Babuyan trip because as the title suggest, this isn’t about the Babuyan islands. When the waiter finally served the food we ordered, it lead me to a question “Why doesn’t my food look like the one in the picture?”. My friend told me, “You don’t know what you are asking for”. I asked why? “You will die if you eat that” he said. Read more…
What I’m supposed to be is a wordslinger, a son of that tribe of men conversant with the strange secrets of the universe, an oracle in the wilderness acquainted with the esoteric voices that spring from God’s vast belly, a hierophant who brings the great unwashed closer to the sacred and arcane truths of the cosmos.
What I’m supposed to be is a storysmith, a Zen musician of mortal emotions, a connoisseur of the spirit, a warrior-poet who drinks from the cup of life deeper than most of my brethren, who intimately experiences humanity, who understands what makes us rapt or wretched or divine or damned.
What I’m supposed to be. The truth is much more sober.
