During these times when the inflation rate is surging to almost two-digit rate, leaving your money in a savings deposit, or worse, just inside your safety box, is like letting your money lose its value or its purchasing power. Read More…
Self defense is self preservation. In truth, the best defense is to prevent danger. Like they say, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure!
How does one prevent being mugged or attacked?
Let’s take a look at some safety tips:
In the recently concluded Alpo Frisbee Challenge, there was one dog that, in my opinion, stood out among all the contestants. There were the huge pedigreed canines like the Belgian Malinois, Labradors, German Shepherds which are some of the dog breeds that you would expect to see in such dog contests.
And then there was also Poypoy.
Poypoy was the lone Filipino dog, known also as the “aspin” or “asong pinoy” (a preferred name over “askal” or “asong kalye”), that made it to the finals of the frisbee-catching tilt.

Yoki’s Treasure is a private collection of old Asian artifacts, antiques and garden hidden somewhere in Indang, Cavite. Yoki, the owner of the warehouse that serves as a museum, even had a 30-feet statue of Buddha shipped into the place several years ago.

The WWDC 2008 has finally concluded and Apple has finally announced a brand new iPhone 3G with GPS. New features are expected but Steve Jobs realized they can’t sell more until they cut the price in half — so now it’s just $199, worldwide, including the Philippines.

Little-known fact about me: I used to be part of UST’s Campus Ministry back in college. Yes, I used to volunteer and facilitate recollections, retreats, and similar activities. And yes, I also stood on stage and danced some charismatic songs in front of freshmen. And talked about Jesus and his love. A lot.
… Shut up.

Last Saturday, June 7, Among Ed launched his blog at the Executive House in San Fernando Pampanga.
I was sent an invite today by a friend of mine about a website called YouSwop.Com
The idea is simple, it’s a trade and bartering site on the web meant to promote a cashless trade interaction. Each item is assigned a value by the seller. The values assigned as in YS (YouSwop) Dollars. Each YS$ is equal to USD$ 1.
And I quote from their website:
I had recently attended a company seminar on bank loans. The seminar was facilitated by HSBC. Apparently, they’re our company’s banking partner in providing employee loans. I wasn’t really there to loan though– I was more interested in information on their time deposits.
HSBC has a pretty darn good record when it comes to banking services so I asked for information on their time deposits. This came yesterday in the mail:

If you are a blogger, a website owner, or a commenter, you may have notice how comments are fragmented since Web 1.0 and how it gets even more fragmented today – Web 2.0. Discussions about defragmenting Comments sparked up in the Comments space and the Blogosphere these past few months, especially with the growing popularity of services like Disqus, Intense Debate, and well the two most pointed-out fragmenter today – Shyftr and FriendFeed (to which I’ve said, it has been like that since Web 1.0).

Tender Bob’s Steaks and Ribs place brings with it old memories of a romantic date in the Libis branch (now gone). It was situated near Starbucks along E. Rodriguez Jr. and offered a warm and cozy ambience suited for couples wanting to cuddle up over a fine meal. I can still remember that we had chosen that place for its famous lamb chops with mint jelly. Hmmm.
Less than 2 years ago, Pluto was demoted to being a dwarf planet. I covered the reactions of the other planets after the shocking demotion. Now, it’s time that we check up on the ex-planet. It’s time for us to go Behind the Planet, or should I say, the dwarf planet. Snapz!

After Pluto was expelled from our solar system’s planetary club, life went on for the remaining 8 planets. Jupiter proceeded to brag about his awesome Great Red Spot, Mercury continued with his eccentric orbit around the Sun, and Earth stayed blue and pretty. Business as usual. Pluto, however, went on to follow a lonely dark path to deep depression.
