Thousand are dead in the China Killer Quake
It seems that, based on the Senate investigation today, and as I was also expecting, MERALCO is not the only one “responsible” to this, so called, “high cost of electricity” in MERALCO franchise area, which covers Metro Manila. Napocor (NPC) and TransCo are also “involved”, as well. High transmission charges, generation adjustments and stranded cost are some of the issues that were brought about to these two government corporations.
And speaking of Napocor, here is an issue that seems remained silent and may only be known to some industry participants for almost two years now Read More…
I blog mainly to express myself and to record the details of my life. But I am very happy that besides being an outlet for my thoughts, I also have the opportunity, through my blog, to help other people. These people are mainly future FSOs, and recently, future expats and tourists to Cambodia, who have been emailing me asking about life in this country I have called home for almost six years now. I have published the first of these letters in the post Do’s and Dont’s in Cambodia. Today, I am publishing an email letter I received last month from a concerned American mother who is about to move to Phnom Penh next year with her family which includes two teen-aged kids.
Dear Toe,
My name is I. and I commented on your Do’s and Don’ts in Cambodia a few days ago and really enjoyed it. My family and I are moving to Phnom Penh next summer and I hope to meet you then and we can exchange stories. Anyway, my husband and I are very excited about living in Cambodia, but we do have a few concerns about teenagers living in Phnom Penh.

As I mentioned in my previous post, Coron Island may be one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen in my life. The place looks so unreal, as if it was taken straight out of a Pirates of the Caribbean movie. The contrast between the towering gray limestone cliffs and the clear aquamarine sea is beyond beautiful. The brackish water lakes with it’s clear waters and strange corals in the middle of limestone mountains is magical. As we entered the island for the first time through Blue Lagoon, we were mesmerized. The only sound coming from our mouths are oohs and ahhs. More…

It was only a month ago that I graduated(New Era University) but I don’t feel leaving our campus grounds. Because, I miss a lot from my professors to my batch mates and even with the guards. You know, I often dream the good old days. There are things that I regret, that I should have done. Like pursuing for the girl that I loved and taking for granted fr some of my subjects. But for now theres no way that I can pull back time.
lagahit.com — He especially wanted to thank the bride ’s and his family and to thank his new father-in-law for providing master card such a lavish reception. As a token of his deep appreciation he said he wanted to give everyone a special gift just from him.
I spent the weekend in internet-less rural Laguna. You know, those places where we have to hunt wild boars for food and offer burnt sacrifices to Maria Makiling to prevent the dragon from eating the sun, hence delaying the end of the world and giving the tribes more time to engage in orgies and human sacrifices.

But that’s not the entire point of the article. You see, my grandparents live in that place. But that still is not my point.
You see, my aunt got married two months ago and since me and my aunt have a very small age gap (see what I did there, tita?) she finally got relieved of the pressure of getting married and stuff. And guess who the grandfolks set their eyes on next.
Clue: His name starts with “A” and ends with “de Magnaye”.
So cue clueless Ade, walking into the nipa hut (yes, they live in a nipa hut. I kid not. Well, the nipa hut’s got airconditioning. So whatev.), greeting his grandfolks like he always does. Then his grandpa, sensing a moment of weakness, drops the bomb:
“Say, Ade, when are you getting married?”
You do not ask that to a single 25-year old who has no plans of getting married just yet because 90% of the women he meets treat him as a gay best friend only straight while the remaining 10% treat him as a sexual offender.

In time, I’d forget how you look like. Your eyes, your prominent cheekbones, the spiked hair you wanted to have dyed. Perhaps I’d even forget your name and the sound of your voice will slowly fade from my memories. We spent just a few hours together anyway and I did not have a clue of your existence prior to that fateful night.
I’d move on with my life and you will, too, a million miles away from me. We’d never see each other again as our love story was merely meant to be 9 hours long. The credits rolled a little too early.
But let it be known that I will never forget about you. You, who held my hand as we walked on the pavement by the sea. We did not care if we stood out among the crowd of people in jogging wear and sweatshirts. For once, I felt like someone was there to take care of me and I was reminded that I, too, am a woman. I will not forget how your fingers encased my palm nor how your pulse beat against mine.
