Another white sand beach discovery! In one of our YM conferences before this trip, I suggested that we visit Brgy. Tambobong which is a distant coastal community in the town of Dasol. After seeing some of the pics on the net, we agreed that this would be our campsite for our second night.

From the national highway, we turned into a small street with a marker that said “Tambobong Beach 22 Km.”

Well that wasn’t too far. We’ve been driving around for around 2 days already, how hard would an additional 22 kilometers be? I thought.

A bit hard because almost all of the 22 kilometers were made of rocks and dirt. And we were getting real hungry!

Pulling into Brgy. Tambobong, we immediately noticed the abundance of pumpboats which was very distracting and somewhat disappointing since the shore was really good and the waters were clean, clear and sandy.

BECOMING AMERICAN

Friday
Mar 28,2008

When the Immigration officer told me after our interview yesterday that I had passed and she was recommending me for naturalization, I felt tears welling up in my eyes and it surprised the hell out of me. After all, I could have done this much sooner but waited instead. That, too, is something I can’t quite explain still.

I’ve been in the United States for almost 24 years; for a third of that time I was really neither here nor there. I was out of status, to put it politely. So while I lived here as an American — paid my taxes, followed all the rules, worked my ass off but also had the time of my life — deep inside I knew I really shouldn’t have been here still. But I couldn’t (wouldn’t) leave either because it would have meant not being able to come back, and I knew if I stuck it out I’d have more options in the end.

I went to Santa Ana to take my US citizenship test today. The good news is I passed. The bad news still bothers me on so many different levels, I’m still processing.

Most Filipinos may speak Filipino or Pilipino or Tagalog, but we do speak it in different ways. For example, this is how my two lolas (grandmothers) and I would say “I am sleepy.”Lola Antonina who comes from Sta. Mesa, Manila would say, “nag-aantok na ako.” Lola Delay from Lian, Batangas would say, “na-antok na ako.” And myself, from Kamuning would say, “inaantok na ako.”

What does the difference in prefixes have to say about language? Duh, how should I know? All I know is that I come from a long and prestigious line of sleepy women. :)

Yay! With less than a month before I leave for LA, I can’t hardly wait. I believe UglyDoll is as excited as myself. This will be my third time in US and UglyDoll’s first.

I’ll be flying to LA on April 18 with Will and will arrive there 12 hours before the rest of the gang. Two of us decided to split from the rest because of some issue with airline tickets. Will and I are flying Northwest while Fin, Dan, Mon and Felicia are flying Thai Airways.

My new bestfriend is my ISIC! In SF, the we will be staying at US Hostel and we get USD1 off per night! Every little discount counts, spoken like a true blue international student on a budget, I say! And there are lots more places we can get discounts at! Hahaha, I’m so excited.

Hey, I bought a backpack just for this trip! So that I can carry my laptop, my new toy and all my handphone chargers with me in case we get lost and can’t go back to the hostel. Now that I have a proper backpack, I guess this is as close as I can get to ‘backpacking’! Lol =)

Anyhoo, we will be spending four days in LA and four days in San Fran before we fly to Oklahoma City for our classes. Will and I will be spending another four days in LA before we say goodbye to US and head back to Singapore.
I CAN’T WAIT!!

Here’s a beautiful oldie that you most likely have heard on the radio before, but don’t know the title.

It’s a song with an anthemic feel and a beautiful melody. It’s called I Will Always Wait For You by Burton Cummings. I’ll post this song together with the chords I transcribed.

One thing that catches my eyes is Asus EEE PC.  Ok, it runs Linux, but i hear Linux is very similar to Microsoft and
runs virtually the same – would i be right? I personally have never
used linux, but its free, and people have said its a good operating system. Now, Asus released its thin laptop with 2GB of memory for only P15,990.Whew that’s pretty cool and so affordable!

What do you think of this little
notebook? It has reasonable specs, I hope i can get it someday, for notes and stuff, and also to sit in bed with and browse
the internet. Haha.

TOP 3 MOST STUPID THINGS CUSTOMERS ASK AND SAY:

  1. miss di ba to fake?

“opo mam, fake po yan nakakalason pa nga e, kaya nga namin tinitinda dito” is that what you expect us to say? Stupid question!!

  1. A customer stops in front of the store, reads the sign CHINESE DRUG STORE. Comes in, and asks “miss, may robitusin ba kayo?”

And I would just love to say “TANGA di ba binasa mo na nga, Chinese drug store nga e, with emphasis on CHINESE.” But I should be polite so I just say “sa kabila po” (funny thing is there’s a pharmacy right beside us.)

We have been asked about much more stupid and bizarre things like:

a. batteries

b. rat poison

c. nails

d. film

And my fave of them all…

e. FORMALIN

And the most popular of them all…

  1. “pinabili lang sa akin e”

Sure (sarcastic tone).. First of all, we’re not asking so stop defending yourself, ok. And second, by the way you look, I don’t think this is for someone else, it’s sooo obvious who is this for.

the stench of f@#%$^@ guavas…

I hate the smell in this place, it smells like rotten guavas. Yuck! I can’t stand it. Ms. Holier than thou brought this box full of mangoes, you’d expect mangoes would smell sweet, but nooo. Her mangoes smelled like eeekkk! And they have been constantly eating it. You know what they say, you are what you eat, or in this case you smell like what you eat. They all stink! Just this morning, when I came out of my room, the whole room outside (which is their room) smelled (and still smells) like rotten guavas…

and the saga continues…

The story won’t end, it’s like a bad teleserye, with twists and turns of the plot that after watching 5 episodes, you’ll get lost. That’s how the political scene here is unfolding. With the Supreme Court siding with Romulo Neri regarding the executive privilege, and the Malacanang wanting to put an end to the senate investigation regarding the ZTE scandal, it just won’t end. And with bad actors and actresses playing the part, who would want to watch it anymore?

I’m just fed up with these non-sense! That’s why Filipinos can never really get back on track, that’s why we can never get out of the gutter because of these ridiculous and outright self serving politicians, which the majority of us elected. Change the system, change our ways, our point of view. That’s what this country greatly need. A change. But for the better.

So stop saying that we need to oust the current president and replace her with a new one. Haven’t we learned the lesson from before? We don’t need a change of men, but a change in men.. We don’t need another politician, but we need another outlook. Get on with your lives, but it doesn’t mean forget all the crimes that were supposed to be committed, pretend like nothing has happened? No, not at all! But be aware of what’s happening, be aware of every act committed against the people, then get the revenge. Get the justice that most of us feel has been taken away from us. Gather evidence, concrete evidence. So that after her term, you can slap her with a very solid case, and then she gets what she deserves.  Now that’s the ending that I would love to watch.

the women of the new generation

it’s 7:30 at night, and i’m really getting annoyed by this hideous voice outside, laughing as if there’s no tomorrow. yup, and she’s flirting with a man old enough to be her father. No taste, that’s all what i have to say! ayoko sa mga malalandi! i think that’s basic enough. Acting as if she knows everything, and yet living with her everyday, proves that she doesn’t know anything at all, well, except to flirt, she’s great at that. Why do women, especially those younger than I, are flirts or stoop to that level? Is it because of the conflict between my generation and theirs, that’s why i don’t understand them? I was raised to be a respectable and intelligent woman, were they? With what I am seeing, I’m having doubts about it.

GIRL A – she’s in a relationship with a man older than my father, from what I’ve heard about 68 or something. She’s in that relationship because of financial reasons. Her mother really doesn’t discourage her daughter to be a skank, and by her own admission, she got pregnant and had an abortion. She’s in another relationship with a man as old as my father, a retired navy, I guess. That fellow has a mistress, but I guess nagsawa na sya, so he’s looking for a new one.

GIRL B – not so bad as girl a, but entertaining every guy that has interest in her, isn’t really that good either.

GIRL C – she’s a whore! That’s all I’m gonna say, at the age of 16, sleeping with every boyfriend she has, that really puts you in whore category.

GIRL D – holier than thou image. Yeah right! The quiet ones are the ones that have the most secret to hide.

Well, that’s the future of our nation. The light is shining oh so bright! NOT!

“Ganyan kalaki yung kanya? Baka di pa umabot yan sa @@@ ko!” – Girl C

“Ha ha ha!” – Girl B

of all the F@#$*D up things in the world

I’m surrounded by incompetent F@#$% morons! (sorry for the language, but I have to say it out loud or else I’ll end up locked up and taking medications my whole life) AUGHHH!!! I hate my life! It’s just that I don’t see myself superior to them (just a tad bit) or whatever, it’s just that they really are incompetent F@#$% morons! (wooh, that’s a relief!).

Very simple things, they just can’t comprehend how to do. I think they lack common sense. Does the new generation lack common sense? God, I hope not. Well, with the “global crisis” turning out, it doesn’t really matter, does it?

I think I’m developing some kind of hypersensitivity for incompetence, I guess because I see it everyday.

Thought of the moment:

“come on now, if you know the sink is F@#$%D up, don’t use it!”

They always talk about guys, the telenovela or whatever they watched last night (yeah, like that’s going to help improve society, watching Marimar and Sergio getting married). It’s like none of them went to highschool, or if they did, they didn’t learn anything from it. (ok, I’ll rant about the educational system some other time).

“I just said stop using the sink a while ago, God!!!”

See what I have to deal with? (blood pressure rising)

life and my music

Let’s start with something light, shall we?

MUSIC IS MY LIFE. A profound line from someone who can neither sing nor play an instrument to save her own life. I just love how it soothes me from being annoyed at work, being annoyed from people at work and from being annoyed from everything else. That’s why I hate it when people mess songs up, from wrong lyrics, wrong tunes, just singing it wrong, THAT annoys me, a lot! (I just love being annoyed, don’t I?)

Listening to music puts me in a different world, far away from reality. It’s an escape to a world where I could truly express my feelings (thru choice of music of course). I just plug in my earphones and drown their annoying voices out with just one click of the button.

How I wish my life’s full of beautiful and sensible music, unfortunately it isn’t, that’s why I’m thankful and grateful for great and beautiful music…
