Two weeks ago, I attended the baptismal ceremony of Erwin’s daughter, Faith. One of the guests there was Exx, a friend from my previous work and currently working for Paypal. He told me that Paypal was working on the option for a local bank withdrawal albeit, he didn’t provide any specific dates but he did mention that it will be “soon”. At the back of my head, I was thinking that Paypal will take a few more months before they will make this option available to their clients until I saw this…

eBay’s online payment division and the global leader in online payments, PayPal, has added a new withdrawal feature for its Philippine and Indonesian members, allowing them to conveniently withdraw funds from their PayPal accounts to their local bank accounts.

This is really good news!

Previously, I had to use my aunt’s credit card and my mom’s GSIS e-Card Plus to withdraw funds from my Paypal account. With this new development, I can now directly transfer money to my own Land Bank account.

I never thought catching mice can be so downright hard! It could be better if they do not struggle so much. Their pain pains me, moreso because I look at them different now after watching Ratatouille.

I’ll share with you my mice killing experience through poetry: something I haven’t done in a long time. And by something, I meant both killing mice and attempting at poetry.

After the Eureka
(Knowing your Patent Law)

Would Einstein have been granted a patent for his mass–energy equivalence formula, E = mc2, under our Patent Law?  Remember that patentable works involve any technical solution of a problem in any field of human activity.  Remember too that the  What do you think?  Need clues?  Okay.  There are 3 basic requirements for a work to be patentable: It should be 1) new, 2) involves an inventive step, and 3) is industrially applicable.

Need more help? You’d better be able to answer now after reading that the following works are excluded from patent protection:

1. Discoveries, scientific theories and mathematical methods;

2. Schemes, rules and methods of performing mental acts, playing games or doing business, and programs for computers;

3. Methods for treatment of the human or animal body by surgery or therapy and diagnostic methods practiced on the human or animal body. This provision shall not apply to products and composition for use in any of these methods;

4. Plant varieties or animal breeds or essentially biological process for the production of plants or animals. This provision shall not apply to micro-organisms and non-biological and microbiological processes.

Provisions under this subsection shall not preclude Congress to consider the enactment of a law providing sui generis (read: exclusive) protection of plant varieties and animal breeds and a system of community intellectual rights protection.

5. Aesthetic creations; and

6. Anything which is contrary to public order or morality.

Happy time with Happy Slip, part 2

Congratulations to the five v/bloggers whose questions Happy Slip got to answer during our interview with her: JM, Marhgil, XienahGirl, Kring and Aajao. Guess what? Your questions were the only ones we talked about mostly, since Coy and I thought that all the preceding interviews and TV spots had basically covered everything else about Christine’s visit to the Philippines.

Enjoy the rest of the interview in the following two-part video (expertly put together, as usual). And watch out for the last few magical seconds. The cab fare we paid going to and from the venue: P200+. The look on Cokskiblue’s face as Happy Slip gives her an unexpected hug: Priceless!

Remembering EDSA II

Sunday
Jan 27,2008

I have nothing much to remember. I was a first year high school student in Don Bosco Technological College Cebu, a school run by Catholic priests, when the massive protests that toppled Joseph Estrada from power came about.

During the peak of the mass actions in the middle of January 2001, we were all bused to the Fuente Osmeña rotunda to join in the demonstrations.

I really didn’t understand the rationale of the whole thing back then, so much more my classmates, schoolmates and all the other Catholic school students who were required to take part in the rallies.

How to tell if your man loves you

Sunday
Jan 27,2008

I was chatting with friends last week when one of the men in the group talked about his latest conquest. He turned mushy and expressed that he seems to be falling in love with the girl. He continued to tell us how his friends made him realize that fact by teasing him about letting his girl’s dog ride in his beloved car. Men and their wheels! Sheesh!

The day turned into a survey and its interesting to find out how to tell if your man loves you…. straight from the horses mouth:

Toys

Sometimes, I swear, there is a big conspiracy that purports to make little kids a sex-crazed generation. How, you may ask? You see, toys like Bratz teach little girls how to dress as skankily as possible, Dora Aquapets make for very private bedroom fun for all ages, and childhood heroes like Jamie Lynn Spears, Lindsay Lohan and Paris Hilton could actually testify that alcoholism, teenage pregnancy, and uploading sex videos on the internet are actually cool.

So where does it all bring us? just the other day I was taking a leisurely stroll along a mall when i chanced upon this toy:

A Spider-Man web flicker pack. You have a webslinger and some rubber webs, and then you flick them all over the place, much to the chagrin of your folks. “Oh look! Our son’s throwing away expensive molded rubber all over the place! I bet we’ll never get to find some of those things and our cat will probably choke on them and die and we’ll all go to jail for cruelty to animals or something. Way to go, son!”

Looks innocent, right? Wrong. Read the rest of this entry »
