Firefox Phishing Exploit

Monday
Dec 3,2007

Firefox has a built-in phishing filter that checks whether a site is blacklisted, and warns the user of the potential fraud and information theft a phishing site could do. It uses Google’s database or a downloaded list of sites according to the user’s preference. But there are some talks about a certain exploit to Firefox’s phishing protection/filter system.

    Dec 3,2007

Our blog explores the world of work and life to convince you that life can be enjoyed how you want it. The ancient constructs of the eight-hour workday and five-day workweek are already crumbling, and the faster that you realize it, the more you can reap its benefits. We’ll show you examples of people who are making money in ways that school never taught and enjoying themselves to the fullest, without having to time in or punch out at specific times or wearing attire prescribed by someone who doesn’t know what you like to wear. Lastly, we’ll show that these can be done in the Filipino context. Once you decide to drop out of the rat race, so many opportunities can open up for you, ready for the taking. Asteeeg ang buhay!

Ever been to the side of Mindoro? If you would like to try to experience being in paradise, I think White Beach would be it. But you should try going there during off-peak seasons to avoid the crowd. You can try during November. We went there that month and from Batangas pier we had to take a ferry boat big enough for a number of people going to the island. After an hour, we got to the White Beach, and there were people who would offer you cottages, food, clothes, and their home massage service. After checking in a house, we can’t wait to see the place. We explored it and find very interesting places to see. We went home to take our lunch and then again took off to the beach. We had fun playing and swimming. As the night came, the usually calm and peaceful beach was converted into crowded and noisy bars. You can see the people that enjoys night life and you won’t see them during daylight, may be because they were up ’til morning and they had to sleep more during the day. It was fun to experience it there but there’s no difference to it compared to Metro Manila night life. We went there to experience something you can’t have in Manila. So, second day came, we went to go snorkeling. We got onto a motorboat and wore life jackets. We went to this island and got off into the sea not far from the shore. The guide told us that we were like 50 feet from the bottom of the sea. We began using our goggles and snorkel. We saw a very fascinating view underwater. You could see various kinds of fish. You could see different kinds of rocks and habitants of sea creatures. The fish were all colorful and we had to feed them by simply putting food to our hands and then we felt them eating on it! It was such an exciting site. We went back to the motorboat then the guide directed us to the middle of the sea and we went down again. Whoa, it was even deeper! We were scared to death that may be a shark would get there or our life jackets would be destroyed and we will drown. But keeping the worries aside, we enjoyed the view underwater and beeing able to see the aquatic animals, the surroundings, the atmosphere,  erased all the stress we’ve had in life. I can’t really describe the feeling that overcame me. It was a calm and remote feeling of happiness that money surely won’t be able to buy. Seeing the scenery under the sea made us all appreciate the living creatures and we wanted to go back again before we went back to Manila. (to be continued….)

Ever heard of KUMON? It was a learning center or what we say a tutorial class for students of all ages for the subjects Math and English. They need instructors from the female kind, college graduate. She has to have the drive to help children, financially stable, has good interpersonal skills, and would have full time commitment to Kumon. And most especially, she has to have good Math and English skills. In High School, I favored Math and English so much. I chose the Accounting course because it involves Math and English. But our professors made us realize that Accounting was more on English, analyzation of things. They were right. Accounting can be equaled to English and less of Math because you don’t have anything complex to compute in Accounting like Algebra. You can even use a calculator to add, subtract, multiply, divide very simple things. If you want to have a small business while working, you can take up Kumon. You are earning while you are helping kids pass their major subjects in schools.

    My Favorite Movies

Although I already watched these movies from the moviehouse, I still bought dvd copies of them. At home, I watched them more than a couple of times and still, I’m amazed that they have their effects on me. Take for example- A Walk to Remember, Independence Day, Armageddon- these movies always make me shed a tear. I’m really deeply touched by the stories. As for the Harry Potter movies (Part One to Five), the last one was kinda boring because the action was less but seeing again the first part to fourth made me understand more the story of Harry Potter and the more I watched them, the more I love the characters especially the protagonist himself. Other movies that I favor include, Spiderman One and Two. And other Marvel movies, too. But these Spiderman movies just like the others, really fascinated me and I’m not tired and bored of watching such movies. Aside from romance and adventure, I also favor action movies as well as comedy one just like Jackie Chan’s. I have all of his movies and I admired his movements and the way he made me laugh.  If you wanna have a laugh at home, you can try Naked Gun One to Three. But I kinda prefer the second part. It was a hilarious movie that made my family laugh all evening.

It is quite amusing to be able to believe in such things as loving a person by only meeting him or her the first time and you deeply fall for that person even without knowing his or her background. Some people believe in  miracles, some believe in lottery, some do not. Believing something is not usually accompanied by the person’s knowledge of the subject or topic. A person believes on something because they already experienced it. Eventhough you have already laid down the facts in front of your friends or families, they won’t believe it unless they experience it, too. So, as for the subject of falling in love, people experience it very differently and in so many ways. For myself, I actually believe that because I already experienced such things. Many people have their own beliefs and opinions on certain things, but they are the only ones who can stand on their beliefs to another person. They should know how to reason out why they believe on such things. Going back to my topic, it’s a great experience for me to be able to fall in love with another person even without knowing his background, even without knowing him prior our meeting. During our very first rendevouz, I was nervous then. Maybe he won’t like me. I’d thought of many negative things I can think of. But as we meet that day, it was the feeling of happiness that engulfed us at that very moment. The world stopped and we just looked at each other’s eyes. After recovering, we walked and finally we talked. Even without knowing him, even he without knowing me, we already felt the connection. And as we go along the path to his house, it was the most enjoyable walk I had to experience in my whole life.

Is your company moving or just trying to terminate you indirectly?

First of all, I would like to inform everyone that our site is now fully functional using Internet Explorer browser since it has been reported that it was not. We’ve fixed the issue just last yesterday and up until now we’re still trying to retrieve all the files. If you’ll notice any bug’s again, please do not hesitate to drop us a line.

Moreover, back up files was not that useful and that I don’t know. I keep receiving errors once importing the files. Worst, all our 100+ registered users were all deleted coupled with our partner links thus, were very sorry if you can’t find your links in the front page for now. Most retrieved links are placed on our link directory for the meantime. We will be transferring those links in our frontpage once done fixing things.

So, is your company moving or just trying to mass terminate all of you indirectly? Quite tricky ey? Don’t worry you’ll be enlightened after reading this short entry as to why I came up with this mind boggling opinion.  Let me till you this, companies are getting smarter everyday and if you think our labor code if full proof, your dead wrong, because there are lot’s of things that you don’t know that most HR know. Do you want me to tell you what I know? Sure I will, but let me do it in my own little way.

    Mom after Naturalization

Mom took her oath and became a naturalized US citizen on November 30, Friday. Congrats, mom!

She is the last one. Mine took place about three years ago. I went ahead and did it because my green card (aka permanent resident or “alien” registration card — I’m not sure why they call it that, it sounds so negative) was about to expire. I didn’t want to expire on me so I couldn’t wait on mom and dad any longer. Dad and Jen were both naturalized last year. Their green cards actually expired on them.

Mom’s green card had a later expiration date because she lost her purse several years ago and had to renew everything. Therefore, her green card ended up with a later expiration date than mine and Jen’s. Our entire family is now naturalized. Woot! Woot!

I haven’t found a huge advantage to being naturalized other than we now have the right to vote and we won’t have to pay for a green card renewal every few years. In the long run, being a US citizen is more cost effective.

Some people wouldn’t dare consider pledging to another country. They would maintain their original citizenship or at the very least maintain dual citizenship. Even though we are all naturalized Americans now, we haven’t forsaken the Philippines. I love my home country and will forever call it my home (although in most of my online profiles — e.g. Facebook, MySpace, etc. — I refer to Wichita as my hometown). We are not unpatriotic to our country of origin. We are merely pragmatic.

I suppose we have assimilated more than we realize. Pragmatism is very American. I’m proud to be one, and I’m happy that my mom is now one too. Congrats!

MANILA, Philippines — A group of civilians calling themselves members of The Grand Order of Fail stormed Hotel Sogo in Cubao, Quezon City and declared what they call a “LOL D’état”. They have easily taken over hotel security by threatening them with suspicious-looking liquids contained within sealed vials marked with labels such as “herpes”, “syphilis”, “pubic lice”, “erectile dysfunction”, “premature ejaculation”, and the ominous “I don’t know what the fuck this is but you don’t want to get infected by it”.
