E-mushiness: Ham or Spam?

Saturday
Oct 20,2007

I have posted here interesting things I’ve received as spam, but nothing seems to get close to appear ham like this one. It was nevertheless caught by my spam filter, but its idea is so unusual, I just can’t let it pass. It even has a companion Web site that looks legitimate.

    Tragedy strikes Glorietta mall

    Friday
    Oct 19,2007

    My colleagues and I went out to lunch later than 12 noon as our meeting ran longer as usual. We were debating whether to eat at the nearby McDonalds or go out and have a true friday lunch out. Because it was already late, we opted for the nearer Dela Rosa-Greenbelt area rather than Glorietta.

    Coming back to lunch, we were met with buzzing around the cubicles. People were talking in excited voices. Not happy-excited voices but rather excited-agitated voices. Then I learned. A few minutes ago, some teammates were in Glorietta and were witness to the explosion that rocked the popular mall.

    I’ve been trying for weeks to score some tickets to Josh Groban’s concert. My friend B and I vowed to watch him. Unfortunately, the only seats available by the time I started looking was within the 15k range–too heavy for my wallet. So I gave up. No way I am going to waste money on that. I thought B had too. Not so.

    For the past week, the money received by politicians was called cash gifts, cash allowance, goodwill measures, charity funds and bribe money. Which one is the correct term? Whatever label politicians assign to the “gift-giving” in Malacañang, it must be emphasized that taxpayers’ money was distributed under dubious circumstances. In our vocabulary, this constitutes a crime.

    Do you like pumpkin pie?

    Pumpkin PieThe association is simple:
    Pumpkin = Squash
    Squash = Pinakbet
    Pinakbet = Ulam (viand)
    Therefore, pumpkin = ulam… and not dessert!

    My apprehension to try Pumpkin Pie for the first time could then be understandable I suppose. I grew up associating pumpkin puree as baby food or a delicious soup starter. But dessert? Not quite, not quite.

    Give me them PS2 games!!!

    Friday
    Oct 19,2007

    It’s been almost 6 months since I’ve touched my PS2. It’s been demoted to a DVD player. I’ve got a few games, probably half of what I used to own. The top half, I’m going to give to my nanny’s son. He’s too young for very violent games, hence, I decided to give away those I believe are not suitable for his age. My nanny’s son grew up with me and my sister, and he’s almost like a brother to me. Ain’t he lucky?

    So teh awesomezz LadyGadFly’s giving away a few DVD Games, and I thought that since I’m pretty big with games, I’ll give it a try.

    A few reasons why teh awesomezz LadyGadFly should give me them PS2 games: read more…

    The Magical Stardust!

    A team mate really fascinated my mood when she suggested that I should watch this magic and love-driven summer movie, Stardust! Well, each movie I guess always has its own story of love and romance. It’s always part of it. ;) Hmmm, obviously my next review. You know, I’m a bit bias. I make reviews or say, online summaries if I recommend the films. I’m an advocate of good movies! And readers of this site should also see what I see! That’s how I love ya’ll cyberpals! Remember, if you love the person, you are willing to share your food that you think is delicious on your taste buds. Right? So, here’s the soup before the main course.

    Moral leadership?

    Friday
    Oct 19,2007

    With the newest scandal rocking Malacanang reaching boiling point, many Filipinos look up to the Catholic bishops to lead them in a moral crusade to cleanse government of bribery and corruption.

    Ho hum.

    Unfortunately, not too long ago, a number of bishops themselves were wined and dined at the Palace and went home, just like our congresspersons, governors and mayors last week, with “gifts” from you-know-who.

    Kring Celebrity Look-alikes

    “Excuse me, miss… Do I know you?”, asked a random stranger in the MRT.

    “Uhh… I’m not sure.” I confuzzledly replied.

    “I swear I know you!”

    “Were you from UST, too?”

    “Nopes.”

    She stared at me for 10 more seconds before her eureka moment.

    “OMGsh! Song Hye Kyo?! I didn’t know you speak English!”

    My phone alarmed and I awoke from what would’ve been a pretty cool dream.

    Eversince I was a kid, I’ve always wanted to look like a celebrity. From Sporty Spice to J.Lo and even to San Cai. However, I never once achieved my ideal “look”, mainly because uhm… I’m “speshul” like that.

    Recently, my friends and I were talking about the artistas who look like us (or vice-versa). Well, I may have looked like Aiza Seguerra when I was like 5 but I swear to gawd, I’d stab with a plastic spork whoever will say that I still look like her to this day.

    Out of boredom (not really. I just don’t want to go back to work yet), I present to you… the “Kring celebrity look-alikes according to people who suffered from brain damage woot!”
