…it took me a while before I got around to writing the letter requesting that National withdraw all the books, and ask her and her publisher to attest that all their other books were free of copyright problems, but I finally gave it to Mrs. Bolasco and guess what? Maybe the letter to Mrs. Ramos had the desired effect, maybe not, but within two days, after weeks of silence, I got the following comment on the old post. More…
…I cringe when I look at myself in photographs because I think I look deformed, especially when I’m laughing. Then I cringe even more when I realize that everyone else in the picture looks just as I see them in person.

…and someone, namely me, gets burnt out.
The petty thefts (if you can call them that) stopped when we installed a gate. The bakal boys went out of business when we padlocked and cemented the damn water meter. The rowdy crowd lessened when we got a fierce guard dog. We couldn’t stop power theft, however, but we let it pass and still pay for the ridiculously high bill. It shouldn’t be a big deal, right?
Hell, no!
Really, I live in such a bad neighborhood that even my father thinks of moving. Again. I know the meaning of pakikisama, just as people here don’t even know that there exists such a word. I try hard to keep my temper (though I fail most of the time) whenever our next door neighbor splashes hot water on, and hurt our dog. And after almost 10 years of screaming marathons, dealing with malicious drug addicts, suicides and murders, gang wars, flying bottles, and crazy bastards, I’ve officially given up on this place. It’s now filed under my Hopeless Case folder.
Neri can sleep peacefully since he refused an offer which couldn’t be refused and more importantly, he has not violated the vow of omerta, oops, executive privilege. Neri is no Chavit Singson, Clarissa Ocampo or Karina Constanito David. Neri is, well, Neri. The witness who told the convenient truth but left out the inconvenient truth.

Trading in a stock market like the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) means you buy and sell shares of stock of companies listed there. You can do this either through a stock broker or by yourself online. To earn from this trade, you have to know when to get in (buy) and when to get out (sell). With the current lack of features of WordPress 2.3 with regards to tagging, I first wrote a hack to display the available tags while Writing a Post. This way, the blogger would know which tag they would like to reuse.
After a few minutes of tinkering with the core files, I decided to try making a plugin that would mimic Ultimate Tag Warrior’s ability to display Technorati tags, a feature that I sorely miss, having to let go of the plugin I have come to know and love. I definitely know I have to do something about it. It’s the OCD-ridden kid in me that just has to scratch this itch.

This is an idea for all bloggers especially the ASEAN Citizens.
To show our support with the movement going on in Myanmar these past days, let us show banners and/or badges on our respective blogs with a positive message saying the likes of: “Myanmar for Democracy” or “Myanmar for Peaceful Reconciliation”, or any message you can think of. Let us all try to avoid being negative or anti- to the rulers of Myanmar as this will not help at all. But if you insist on being anti- and create banners and/or badges with the messages “No to Myanmar’s Military Regime” or “Myanmar’s Military Regime time to step down” (pretty long), or the likes, you are free to do so. Though again, a positive message is more preferable.
Alarming news: “Burmese troops today opened fire on pro-democracy protesters leaving several people dead, as the violent military clampdown escalates.”
The military junta’s brutal crackdown started yesterday and continues today. The Guardian newsblog has updates since Wednesday until 12:45 today. More recent updates from The Irrawaddy:
I’m in this carefree, nonchalant state of being the whole week because I got my hands full of two major things that are overwhelming me and causing me to neglect you, my degenerate readers, again like you never existed: work in one hand; indolence in the other (which may or may not be the byproduct of writer’s block – I’m not a writer, as in not even close, but bear with me.)
But nothing compels me more to write today and throw my maturity and rational thought process again out of the window than what happened to me this morning.

What do you get from blogging?
I bet almost all of us have already been asked with the question above by those who are oblivious to our world. Most of them were questions of curiosity from annoyed mothers and jealous girlfriends, but there are also from those aspiring bloggers who want to know more about the world they would be engaging.
Of course, it is only natural for people to ask if whether a particular task is worth time and effort. Nobody wants to waste time and energy on a task that doesn’t earn them anything in return.
So, what do people get from blogging? Is blogging really worth all the time, effort, and money?
Blogging gives us an avenue for self expression
A blog’s main function, as I have always defined, is to serve as an avenue of self expression for bloggers. Like a piece of paper to a writer or a canvas to a painter, blogs allow us to express our feelings, thoughts and opinions on the internet mainly in the form of writing (There are also other forms like podcasting, videoblogging, photoblogging, etc.).

If you don’t have Cable TV (or if you live a pathetic life and you don’t have a TV at all), then most probably you haven’t heard of the Oscar de La Hoya Scandal. So yeah, 2 days after the so-called scandal, I decided to make a post about it. Not that it’s more important than my long-delayed wedding post (I just can’t seem to strike a high note with it yet), but it’s just something that I feel am responsible to share. Read more here.
In a new study conducted by Robert Nelson of University of Maryland, it states that the Philippines culture is to blame for its poor economic performance. The thought is that due to Spanish influence, it has become like Latin America. As compared to the 1950’s study based on World Bank that Philippines would only be second to Japan’s economy.

In the past months, there are claims that the well-known KeywordSpy is a reseller of KeyCompete. To check the veracity of the alleged buzz, I decided to signed-up for both systems and compared their respective services. After a series of tests, I boldly claim via this post that KeywordSpy is way way better than KeyCompete.
For those who are dying to disagreement with my claim, give me some minutes to explain.
Both tools let you search either by domain or by keyword. So, you may take a peep on what keywords a particular site is bidding on, or alternatively you may see what sites are bidding on a particular set of keywords.
First, I used both systems to search for top advertisers of the keyword “tents” and grabbed their keywords lists. I produced a list of about 8,000 from KeyCompete and another 8,000 for
KeywordSpy and stopped because I have this short attention span. Well, anyways, I imported my keywords, setup my campaign in AdWords, sat back, and waited for results. I am happy to report that in just weeks, I tripled my ROI with the keyword list I made with KeywordSpy while those I chose from KeyCompete seem to be rubbish. As far as business goes, KeywordSpy is really brilliant.
Also, if you are to test the KeyCompete service using your own domains or websites, you will surely conclude that many of their results are equally short and inaccurate. Add to that, its pricing scheme by subdomain is outrageous.
Moreover, when I get all my assumed “competitors’ keywords” from KeyCompete, there is no way for me to know whether they are really good keywords. Their “Column Rating” feature is an underdog, compare to KeywordSpy’s Ad Ranking, PPC and Competitors Count features. Man, no way for you to get totally accurate reports with KeyCompete.
And this is what killed me — their e-mail support! The KeyCompete support took a week to reply to my question and the answer is a galaxy away from my question, and it seems that the reply have just been a copy-pasted portion of texts from their website. The KeywordSpy Team, on the other hand, is very helpful and knowledgeable to deal with. They even appreciate the feature suggestions I made. They now have the pie and bar graphs that represent the PPC Summary or competition level among certain regions.
So this post is a cautionary reminder to everyone, I have found no better service from KeyCompete. Yes, subscription price is more than half less than KeywordSpy. But then KeyCompete’s pricing goes hand-in-hand with their service — less and well… poor.
1. Sec. Romulo Neri is making waves without rocking the boat at all! After all the suspense and drum-beating about being “ready to lose his job” on account of appearing before the Senate to testify on the NBN ZTE contract, it was quite lame of him to remain tight-lipped on Gloria Arroyo’s involvement in the deal. Sure, Neri dropped a big, stinky pooper right smack on Abalos’ head. But he flew away from the heat he created afterwards, singing to the tune of “executive privilege”. Not quite the hero. No wonder he still has his job intact!
2. Fleeting thought: Sen. Miriam has no business diverting the issue with theatrics and rascist remarks on how the “Chinese invented corruption”. Especially when some Filipinos are developing it to such an appallingly sophisticated degree.

I have insect bites. Two on one arm, five on the other, one on my right calf, two on one inner leg, and one somewhere on my back. Bad thing is I don’t know what bit me so self-medicating has only left me feeling more desperate after trying about five different remedies including drenching the blasted bloated f*cks with ammonia. In fact, I’m so desperate that I’d try anything to make me forget my discomfort, say talk to a dog and imagine him responding intellectually to my otherwise pathetic take at an engaging convo perhaps.

Obviously, I’ve been having too much of either of two things: sleep or trying to avoid my Friendsters. Today I opened my Friendster homepage and found the background was cluttered with lots of coke photos, and tiled ones at that! I can’t believe these guys built Friendster when they can’t even do better than a tiled background for Coca-Cola. I immediately guessed that it was for advertising purposes, and found out that Coke was indeed having a contest and they were advertising on Friendster. It’s weird and it’s the first time I ever encountered this kind of advertising. When I first saw it I was like, “Did someone just hack my account and put the Coke photos all over the place? Or did I miss something?”. ‘Cause the damned thing was all over my homepage.
