Taken at about 6 am in a pleasant morning, this blind man was preparing his things for a day’s worth of begging on Baguio Cathedral’s high stairs, which leads down to Session Road. This is another ‘fake’ HDR image using a single JPEG and opening it twice in Photomatix to generate HDR. Some adjustments such as levels, curves, saturation, burns and a slight vignette are done in CS3.

Do you know that I have been blogging for two years now? I missed my anniversary as I confirmed from my old personal blog that my first ever post was created on May 30, 2005. Technically it was way back September 2004 but that doesnt count as I used to just post excerpts of songs or quotes that I loved. My then blog was entitled “Listen to me”. Appropriate right?
I must say that I was destined to become a blogger. As far back as I can remember I have been writing about my personal thoughts and experiences. I guess its my mom’s fault as she was the one who gave me my first diary. You know – the kind which has a lock to keep all your secrets safe. I accumulated these paper journals such that when I graduated from high school, I had a big boxful that unfortunately just had to be thrown away. These included my poems and short stories that I wrote. Come to think of it, I wish I didnt throw them away. I could have had record of those original writings. Oh well.

Business is also about being visible. This is achieved by diffeerent businesses in different ways, including ads, membership in business organizations and sponsored events. Another way of achieving this is getting listed in a Business Directory.
I’ve had my Facebook account for quite a while but I never got around to updating and playing around with it. But with all the recent hype, I decided to dick around and explore if it really deserves all the noise. I have to admit, I’m very much impressed. I’m seriously considering leaving my other social networking accounts and start nesting in Facebook.
There’s one huge-ass problem, though. Most of my friends are still fixated on Friendster and Multiply. I think it’s up to me to convince them to consider getting a Facebook account, if not to totally make it their primary social networking site. With this in mind, I’m going to do a series of posts to pimp Facebook, and you’re all going to read it whether you like it or not.

But before I proceed, let me just point out that the screenshots you see here are products of the Jing Project software. Mike “Fucking” Villar did a nice review on this Jing thingamajig, and you should read it. If not, he’ll rape you. That’s a promise.

Compared to the Tesla Roadster, this all-electric Mini Cooper, isn’t much. Sure, like the Tesla it recharges ala cellphone. It also uses a regenerative braking that put power back to the lithium-powered battery and also goes from 0-60 in a few seconds.

Here’s a website I saw after doing some research on Francswiss. The company is called Swiss Cash, the website is

Another scam has been unveiled in the Philippines. This time it’s trading “futures derivatives”. The company is called FrancSwiss (wow…what a unique name, they just reversed Swiss Francs) and were offering people with a 12% annual return. Their minimum is $40,000 to invest, but if you don’t have the $40,000, they encourage you to partner with someone to come up with the minimum. It was estimated that investors lose between $120 to $250 million in investments.
I was browsing around for some good reading material at Powerbooks the other day and came across one of their Harry Potter promotional gimmicks. It’s called the Powerbooks Pensieve (in reference to that magical bowl thingy from the story where you can put your memories in for examination at a later time). But the Powerbooks Pensieve, on the other hand, is a not a bowl but a book filled with questions where customers can write down their creative answers. One of the things it asks is: if you encountered a Boggart, what would it turn into? The Boggart, for those of you who flunked Defense Against the Dark Arts, is a shape-shifting creature that will turn into the worst fear of anyone who encounters it. And here are a few of the answers that I read: [continue reading...]

Because of conflict in work schedules coupled by the difference in our work locations, my husband and I agreed that he will take the car to work and just pick me up after office. This means every morning I get to ride the FX shuttle to work.
Before, I used to bitch about the Metro Manila traffic… now I get to bitch about the public transport in Metro Manila.
Here are a list of things that frustrate me about riding FX shuttles:

The accusations regarding a certain candy called “White Rabbit” containing formaldehyde(commonly known as formalin) has finally been proven and dismissed false.
Guan Sheng Yuan (Group) Ltd, White Rabbit’s manufacturer released yesterday official laboratory results certifying that their products are free from contaminated ingredients such as formalin. General Manager Weng Mao, stated at a recent presscon conducted by the company, that they already received test result samples from an international inspection company called SGS, proving its products are free from the poisonous chemical.
GM Mao stated, “the report is convincing enough to dispel the untrue reports from some overseas media”.
Last monday, Bureau of Food and Drugs(BFAD – Philippines) began banning White Rabbit’s distribution and pulled-out stocks of the candy on all grocery stores. Not only the said product has been pulled-out but other China-made products as well. Included are Milk Candy, Balron Grape Biscuits and Yong Kang Foods Grape Biscuits, which came from the provinces of Fujian and Guangdong. BFAD also issued a public advisory and asking the general public not to buy or consume the said products and claiming that sample tests on them had shown they contained harmful substances, such as formaldehyde.

Another excellent breakthrough in the field of science and medicine. A joint research by specialists in University of Haifa(Institute of Evolution) and Indiana University recently discovered a mathematical method that is able to indentify genes that battle against viruses and diseases in our body. Based on a research lead by Dr. Leonid Brodsky and Dr. Milton Taylor, they’ve already identified over 37 genes(out of possible 20,000 genes) that help in combating the Hepa-C strain.
According to Dr. Brodsky, “”When we know which genes are responsible for fighting the viruses which attack our liver, we will be able to look for the medications which will activate these genes most favorably”. He further added, “”In the specific case of hepatitis C, we have now isolated the genes that show which patients will respond to treatment. Until now, all patients received treatment for an extended period of time without knowing whether or not they would respond. In the future, we hope to find other medications that will be more effective in activating all of the 37 genes.”
