I have always found problematic the church’s often repeated position on vote-buying which says “accept the money but vote according to your conscience”. Our office received recently an invitation to the launching of the Livelihood Lending Facility for Government Employees this May 2, 2007 from 10 am to 5 pm at the Philippine Trade Training Center (PTTC). Despite of the chance that one could get shot while voting in our province, I would still wake up early on May 14 and stand in a line to be able to cast my vote. No, I will not vote for a “dynasty” that calls itself the “New Strength of our Province” nor to the other party that promises the people that they are the future of Nueva Ecija. Because I believe that the strength and future lies within us Novo Ecijanos and not within these politicians who scramble, during the elections, for power while trampling on each and everyone’s basic human rights.

It’s just that you could have not told me anything about whatever. You could have just asked how and where I was, said how generally exciting your day went, and left all the other details out — period. Was it really that important to you for me to know about whatever? Did you feel so relieved, or so overjoyed, or somehow so proud that you just had to spill it out? Did you think that you were oh-so-cleverly playing with my imagination?

I bought a home in Maricopa, Arizona in the fall of 2006. This city is in the greater metro area of Phoenix, Arizona. With the huge volumes of foreclosures across the United States today, many folks out there are probably regretting their decision of buying a house.

As I look back at my purchase, I ask myself if I made the right decision. Four years ago, I was expecting the housing market to collapse, but for some reason (e.g., Greenspan lowering interest rates) it never came til now. I said to myself, once the housing market in the US collapses I will be ready to buy my first home. Last fall, the US housing market first started showing signs of decline, finally signaling the end of the boom days. So I made my move, even last fall if you were careful you could find really great deals.

f you didn’t, well you definitely missed a lot. ChrisH and I found ourselves at the company of the young’uns friday night. The parteeh started at Yoohoo bar at Metrowalk Ortigas. Unfortunately, they did not serve beer. (Who suggested the place anyway? — JEFF!!!) And so we moved to Dencio’s a few steps away.

It was there that I found out who was who and what was what.

The global epidemic continues to expand and infect millions of people around the world. However, alarming numbers have been recorded for South Africa. It is said that millions have died and hundreds continue to die every week. It does not help that there is a total lack of health care and education that would be enough to stop the growing numbers of the affected population. Thousands are orphaned and still many children are born already with AIDS.

Countries, nations, people have moved up to help. And the TV show American Idol 2007 has gone to do its part in this endeavor.

Simon and Ryan visited Africa and witnessed the extremely poor conditions that the people were living in. They saw, felt and tasted the sickness that engulfed the nation. See the TV event here at American Idol.com.

I watched and swallowed in pain. Not because I know these helpless people but because of the reality that I am here, living a good life while they watch their husbands, mothers, and children die. I complain that women are still not treated fairly in this country and realize that women in Africa are not treated fairly - AT ALL. The social stigma that comes with having AIDS is enough to deprive them of medical assistance or the moral assistance that would have given them strength to battle the disease.

since i have often lambasted candidates, senatoriables mainly, left and writeright, i have often been asked to post something positive and/or constructive on my pages for a change, to revel on a candidates’ good looks maybe?? or just to espouse his/her ideals… but when i was just about to start writing about this, i often find myself short of material… there is just not enough good things to say about a particular candidate except maybe gwapo sya or antangkad naman nya or wow! sexy!! BECAUSE [and this is with a capital B, E , COS] there no more such politicians today… those that you can talk about fondly and reminisce about all the good things he or she has done for the country… the likes of Jovito Salonga and Salvador Laurel are no more [yes, Shari, that's how old i am and that was why i was so righteuos...]… so why should i??

It just ain’t the same CSI (Crime Scene Investigation) when there is no Gil Grissom.

But Gil is taking a sabbatical and Liev Schreiber of the movie SCREAM is coming in to take his place.

I must say I am truly disappointed with this move of the show’s producers. This is because, the show’s characters are portrayed by people who do not have the celebrity fame to show for it. This is part of which that makes CSI believable and magnetic. Watching Gil in action - you can imagine that you were actually watching real life right before your eyes.

                       What does it mean to be the
Philippines no. 1 noontime show? What does it takes to be no.1? How does a noontime show must be presented? Does it mean the hosts must be funny and gave money or ask money from the audience? What matters most to help the people or make them laugh? To make a fool out of an audience or a contestant to keep everyone laughing or make a fool out of yourself just to make the audience happy?                    Wowowee the ABS-CBN’s own version of noontime show and probably the controversial noontime show in the
Philippines right now! Maybe because of the stampede occur during their anniversary few years back where a lot of people got injured and died. Its main host they called pappy Mr. Willie Revillame is also controversial for being a playboy and having a lot of illegitimate  siblings and also for the annulment his wife filed after a couple of months after their wedding. Pappy is well known to many people as a kind hearted, joyful person but it’s that really the man many of the poor people in the
Philippines idolized? Or is he just doing it for fame and for money?  Look if he really meant helping other people or their contestants why do he always make a fool out of them? When we say noontime show it must be funny and the people are laughing but I observe most of the time his punch line is corny and sometimes offensive! Where is his sense of humor now? He doesn’t even apologize to the person and always said he’s doing it to make people laugh or for the sake of laughter! Is that your only reason Pappy? I thought your kind hearted but where’s your sensitivity when it comes to your contestant? Now tell me are you helping them or abusing them for the sake of the ratings? Why does when a beautiful woman must kiss you every time the song kiss me is played? I don’t see it funny but an abuse! And when it comes to choosing “BIGATIN” portion of the show you always choose a beautiful or gorgeous or sexy woman from the crowd? And if you really want to help the people why ask money from the audience? I know they like to help but why let all the people see your asking money from the audience? Why don’t put a donation box in the entrance of your studio instead of asking money from them? What are you trying to prove? That if you are a host and a noontime show you can ask money and gave them away?  I don’t get it! If you’re really want to help why you don’t pull it out from your own pocket! And if an audience insists of donating money or gives money to a contestant gave it after the show or put it in the institution that helps the poor! I don’t know why a lot of people don’t see it! Is the only one who sees your wrong doings?                    Eat Bulaga the longest running noontime show in the world according to Guinness book of record. How did they do it? What is their secret? Eat Bulaga move from one channel to another and now available at GMA 7. I myself don’t know exactly what is the exact date or year it started. When I was young it was already there and I enjoy watching it! They have a lot portions, they are funny and they have great respect to other people whether it’s a contestant or co host! Their main host the trio Tito, Vic and Joey! As I observe the Eat Bulaga has become a daily habit of the Filipino whether their in the country or outside! The host of this show has a very great timing when it comes to punch line! Sometimes they get the contestants involve or the audience but in a right manner! And if the sometimes hurt them they immediately apologize! They manage to merge their old ideas with the new ones! As if you are watching it way back in the late 80’s with an added spices from this year! It was very appealing and thumbs up to the people behind it! Eat Bulaga manage to evolve as the years pass them by and manage to keep their rivals at the end of the line or sometimes retires! They also manage to cope up in the changes of their co hosts and the suspension they always get from the MTRCB! Eat Bulaga becomes a stepping stone of the many of the
Philippines actors, actresses and sometimes musicians! They discover a lot of artist that now creating their own name in the
Philippines entertainment business! Eat Bulaga manage to change lives in the Filipino community simply by being a contestant, a home partner or sometimes a letter sender. Eat Bulaga will always be love by most of the Filipino and always be remembered not as a longest running noontime show but for the host that’s always been a helpful and for being the funniest person they ever had when they are eating lunch!                    I’m not doing this because I hate or envy Mr. Willie Revillame or I idolized Tito, Vic and Joey or even I grow up watching Eat Bulaga! I did this because I want the people know what I see and observe as an audience. I try not to be bias but I just can’t seem to find any trace of flaws in the Eat Bulaga portions or hosts! Great chemistry they have not like their rival that it’s very obvious! People will continue to join in their own will in any portion whether it’s Eat Bulaga or Wowowee simply because of the poverty in the
Philippines. Some are enjoying being a contestant while some will just eat all the pride they have left in them just for a couple of bucks these shows are giving! How sad to know that people joining this contest not to enjoy the happiness it has to offer but for the sake of money they will get after the show! People of the
Philippines wake up and for those who is in power do something to end the poverty in our country! Where is your conscience? We want work not talk! Do we need another Jose Rizal or People Power or even another civil war? Many Filipino left the country serving foreigner instead of serving their own country just to have a bright future for their family! How many are you willing to sacrifice? How many more will die or get kidnapped?
