have you ever done something stupid that costs your company millions of pesos worth of data??
if you have, then you prolly know how this computer technician in Alaska felt when, after formatting a hard disk, found out later on that it contained $38 billions worth of accounts of applicant information for an oil-funded sales account… it still wouldn’t have been so bad except for one thing: the daily backup tapes were unreadable!!
if you managed to watch CSI: Miami last night, you will know what i am talking about…
we all know that Horatio Caine [played by David Caruso] is the epitome of an uber-cool super cop when it comes to busting criminals and solving seemingly unsolvable crimes…
with Leo Martinez as Congressman Manhik Manaog at your self-service and Manuel “Jun” Urbano, Jr as Mr Shooli, the comedy flick M.O.N.A.Y ni Mr Shooli is set to be shown soon in Philippine theaters…
Ranting on infidelity…
My gosh, it’s been four years since my batchmates and I have graduated from college. Yes, I’m that old, shut up. Four years. That’s like my entire high school life. Another college degree. Nursery, kinder, and prep plus grade one!
So what is wrong with this picture?
The first time I watched the commercial by Pond’s, my eyes were pulled to watch as my mind quickly registered the words “miracle” while watching a husband suddenly pay special attention to his girlfriend or wife who were apparently using this age-miracle product. Then I heard the warning bells…. Ringggging in my head. Halt!

Ok lang ako, Basta para sa bayan.” That’s the answer I gave when I was asked if it was fine with me to shadow with any of the workshop presentors for the School Based Management Program. We have just concluded the train the trainers workshop last Sunday. I was not the facilitator; I was a participant. The group laughed (or maybe was delighted by my answer) when they heard my answer. Everyone in the group has been conducting workshops here and abroad. I guess they knew that I conduct most of my workshops alone. But then, we were all motivated to help 350 school principals to transform themselves to activity-oriented, compliance-driven school managers to purpose-oriented, change-driver educational leaders…read more at http://jefmenguin.wordpress.com
Found out about another free SMS site. So far so good, but it took around 2 hours for verification message to arrive. Sent a test message and it only took a second for it to arrive.

For a country that has been inevitably integrated with the world economy for the last four hundred years, and an estimated 8-10 million of its people working all over the globe, our politics can be surprisingly short-sighted and insular. Read the rest here.
Self-esteem is another channel to personal development and revolution. Life begins to take on greater splendor as we open up and be pleased about ourselves.
If I were music I’d be out of sync. More not-so-random thoughts here.
There’s comedy hour everyday with those political ads. Here are some of the more laughable ones.
t’s already vacation time/summer season and during these past few days I only have one place in mind to where to spend a great vacation — Washington DC. We had the chance to stay there for a couple of days (courtesy of my Mom’s high school buddy) during the 2005 holidays. You could definitely feel the patriotism of the Americans who were visiting the various national memorials and monuments to commemorate their heroes and presidents. The experience left a mark on my whole existence. I wondered why can’t we ever build a decent place to remember our national heroes like this one? Of course we have the Rizal Park but can’t we build something that wouldn’t look anything like a circus and a motel with a statue in it? Anyways here’s a couple of things that I observed in DC which I would definitely want to see in our country in the next few years…

We were in the middle of a mangrove swamp, motoring by boat to a coastal Muslim community south of Phuket, when Dave casually said, “I heard Budji Layug has opened a furniture shop in Bangkok.”
I was hunkered down on the boat, a jacket slung over my head to ward off the sun, but I felt my ears prick up. A well-known Filipino architect-designer opening shop in a foreign land—of course I had to know more about it. I wanted one more unique story wrung out of this trip, which in a few days would have brought me not only to Thailand’s most famous beach destination, but also to Krabi farther south and Bangkok up north.
This was June 2004, and I was with a group of media colleagues from Manila on one of those familiarization tours regularly offered by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (Dave was TAT’s point man in Manila). The tsunami that would wipe out Phuket and much of South Asia was a year-and-a-half away.

To those who have the bravado getting a crisp tan sans using sunblock, well, goodluck to you folks for skin cancer’s just on its way!
The sun’s rays are more intensified this season. And when the intensity increases, the UV rays also increases. These harmful rays are the main cause of skin cancer. As much as possible, practice sun avoidance during peak hours (10 am to 4 pm).
Sunblock, usually containing SPF (sun protection factor), keeps those UV rays from seething through the dermic layers of the skin. SPF has a number attached to it, which indicates the number of minutes you can stay outside and bask freely without worrying about the sun’s harmful rays. Sunblock also helps you achieve a younger looking skin sans the freckles, age and dark spots with prolonged use.
While young, keep this as a mantra: slather some SPF daily. You’ll surely reap the rewards when you’re old and wrinkle-free.
Sunblock may be in liquid, cream or gel form. It may also be water based or oil based. Choose aptly a sunblock that best suits your skin. If you’re oily, better get a water based and less emollient sunblock that goes matte when applied. Unfortunately, as the higher the SPF, the greasier it gets. So, if you’re very oily and acne-prone, choose something with at most SPF 30. On the other hand, oil based or emoillient products are best for dry skin. In addition, consider using a moisturizer to quench parched skin even better.
It is best to apply sunblock 15 minutes prior to sun exposure. 15 minutes is enough time to make your skin absorb the product for absolute efficacy. Consider the SPF number a factor should you wish to reapply the sunblock after (or nearing) such given time.
Be guided that it’s not only the skin that needs some UV shielding. Our lovely pucker needs a lip balm infused with SPF to maintain its smooth & chap-free state. Our crowning glory, surprisingly, needs a spritz of a hair product with SPF to keep it from frizz and excessive dryness.
Common products with sunblock: sunscreen for face and/or body, after-sun spray, moisturizers, lipgloss/lipbalm, tanning lotion/spray, hairspray, leave-in conditioners, makeup particularly foundation/powder, etc.
