Whatever bleeding-heart optimists say, being a housewife (or house husband for that matter) is not a noble job. It’s the recourse of a person who is too afraid of having a life other than as his/her partner’s satellite. Look, both my parents were teachers so my brothers and I grew up around various housemaids and we never resented our folks for that. In fact, I think it would have driven me insane had I grown up with my mother in the house all day, everyday. So no, I don’t think being a house-person is cute at all. Earning money is always better than staying at home and raising the kids. If you were earning money you’d have the power to hire people who will stay at home and raise the kids for you.
Amy Berg filmmaking is scarier than any movie I’ve seen this year – it pierces me watching the victims, as well as the calm rapist, who spoke in front of the camera. What’s more it enrages the senses to discover how corrupt the Catholic Church hierarchy – from the Cardinals who cover-up rape cases by transferring pedophiles to other parishes, to Pope Benedict who sent a memo to hide the abuse, to George Bush who granted pedophile priest immunity from prosecution.

Dear Mrs. Sweetlady,
I just want to let you know that Ryland has been hurt a few times by Buddy. Yesterday he came home with a red spot on his right cheek. He said that Buddy pushed him and he fell on the snow. Buddy said that he didn’t mean to push him and it was an accident. One time, Buddy threw a snowball at Ryland and it hit him on the face. Buddy said it was an accident. There were also two other times when Buddy kicked Ryland on the hips and his thigh. Buddy said on both times that it was an accident. I told Ryland that if he gets hurt like that to tell you. But I think he doesn’t want his friend to get in trouble. I don’t know if Buddy didn’t really mean to hurt Ryland but I was wondering if you could please talk to him. If you want to talk to me personally, I’ll write down my phone number here.
Thank you very much,
Niceheart

Men are naturally competitive… especially with other men. We all know that.
Women are not. We only become ”competitive” with other women… when it comes to men’s attention. And that about sums it up. Women will not be pushed into a competition especially by the people they love. And we will never respond to a push manifested by negative reinforcement.

…Recently a friend sent me a chain letter asking for money to help out a dying little girl (I can’t remember where she was from, but suspect it was from an impoverished nation). Predictably, the last paragraph begged the reader to send assistance and pass along the email to as many people as possible. But then it threatened that if one did otherwise, “what goes around comes around.” A couple of minutes later, one of the recipients on the distribution list — my friend’s cousin — replied to all, “How can I help?” Sweet thing, but I had to sit on my hands so I wouldn’t type back: “Don’t pass this on, that’s what!” I mean really, who begs for assistance and threatens retribution in the same sentence? Someone not worth helping, at least in my book.

I’m drunk right now. Two red hosre bottles and two San Miguel Light beer. My elder brother and I had a couple of drinks. He’s leaving tomorrow to work as a seaman. So, it was like a despidida kind of thing.
Anyway, let’s see what I write when I’m drunk. I promise not to edit this entry in my blog. I won’t change any grammar mistakes, nothing. [CONTINUE READING]

My musings on the Pacman, since after his last decisive victory against Morales up to his announced run for Congress. Bottomline: He shouldn’t win both otherwise that’s the end.
