Greetings from Neil Gaiman:
May your year be filled with magic and dreams and good madness. I hope you read some fine books and kiss someone who thinks you’re wonderful, and don’t forget to make some art– write or draw or build or sing or live as only you can. And I hope somewhere this year, you surprise yourself.
Once we mentioned the word love, those lucky ones might feels that they are in heaven but for those who are not so lucky feels that they are in a place worst than HELL..How funny this world can turn into..Let me share with you a few real life experience..

An earthquake hit Taiwan several days ago, and the Philippines has not recovered from its effects. No tidal wave reached the Northern shores of the archipelago, nor did any aftershocks shake Philippine soil – the damage the quake wrought has been much more subtle. Read more here…
Without much fanfare, here we are now, into the bland, third day of the year, feeling like the holidays never happened. I believe it’s time for the Christmas tree to go down, along with the wreath and the tivoli lights. Similarly, all the surplus food bursting out the fridge from all that aggregated holiday dinner left-overs are dwindling, which are just about the remainders of the holidays we have left at this time. Plus all those happy pictures.

As 2006 has ended, now’s the time to look back and reminisce over the past year!
Whereas 2005 was the year of intense organizational activities and social events, 2006 was the year of the self, career and a simpler lifestyle.
The first half was turbulent with yours truly experiencing a lot of self-doubts and uncertainties due to not-so-recent breakup and dead-end job. I’ve asked myself questions like, “Where is my life heading? Shall I even stay in Taiwan?” and “Why am I still single? Is there anything wrong with me, or is it the Taiwanese/Asian society in general that do not smile upon women with strong personalities?”
I was restless.

No matter what you may have done wrong, a person who is always able to give you a second chance, none other than your own mother.
In the competitive world of today, whereby we have numerous choices and alternatives to choose from, the harsh environment is whenever you fail to deliver, there are plenty of others who are ever ready to replace you.
My views…..
I’m in a rut lately. The ushering in of a new year almost always does that to me.
To greet the new year (and my 3rd year in blogging), my lit blog Slip of the Pen has moved to blog.corsarius.net.
While my Blogspot account was satisfactory, nothing beats having your main blog hosted on your own domain and powered by WordPress.

1. Conserve electricity. We will be forced to anyway, at the atrocious and unbelievable rates that electric companies such as Meralco are charging consumers. Better to divert extra energy to calling for a repeal of the Electric Power Industry Reform Act (EPIRA), which brought upon the scourge of more expensive power rates in the first place.
2. Throw away garbage properly. Metro Manila produces more than 7,000 tons of trash daily, a quarter of which ends up in clogged waterways and biologically-threatened rivers such as the Pasig. Do your part in reducing the unnecessary spread of solid waste by disposing of it properly. More here…
Since the hubster was on a break we decided to do some needed cleaning, organizing and rearranging in the house. We are shooting to be out of this house before April of this year but the house definitely needed a little bit of TLC.
As I was listening to music on Pandora.com, I checked out the details of the particular track I was listening to and lo and behold, I learned something that made me believe the particular band’s lead singer is this guy:

The day before Christmas, we attended a party of fellow Pinoys. Of course, where there are Pinoys, expect nothing but good ol’ Pinoy food. Unfortunately, while Pinoy food is undeniably yummy, it usually consists of meaty dishes. Think adobo, kaldereta, paksiw, binagoongang baboy and sisig. All that oil and fat. Mmm, hmm.

So we decided to repent for our sins the next day and stay away from meat for a change. Too much meat is simply unhealthy, you know? Eat seafood, it’s healthy

My father’s not the Leave It to Beaver or Brady Bunch kind of dad, the kind who always has a life lesson or word of wisdom ready to dispense at the appropriate moment. I mean, some of the stuff he tried to drill into my head didn’t seem to apply to my life anyway; for instance, he always warned me against dating several boys because “no one’s going to want to marry you if you do.” Well, two men eventually did — and they both had known beforehand that I’d done my fair share of comparison shopping before I’d hit the checkout stand.
