My second HP Deskjet printer just broke down, looking back I’ve come to realize that HP printers, much like everything else electronic nowadays are “consumables” or disposable. It’s cheaper to get a replacement rather than take it to the shop for repairs once the warranty has expired.
One of the government institutions regularly providing trainings and seminars on livelihood opportunities is the Technology and Livelihood Resource Center (TLRC). It was established in 1977 and has developed hundreds of livelihood courses since then. According to their website, these courses have been attended by as many as 11,000 already. Read on here.

To this day, I sometimes treat myself to a triple scoop of dirty ice cream. They’re not actually dirty per se, but for some unknown reason, we grew up calling it as such. The ice cream vendor who plied our area back then was Mang Fermin; usually passing by our house between four and five o’clock in the afternoon. He had the same flavors — ube, queso, chocolate and vanilla. And every year on my sister Inday’s birthday party, she would always ask for a gallon or two of Mang Fermin’s dirty ice cream to be served along with her cake.
I don’t recall ever knowing the price per gallon of dirty ice cream back then, but it only cost five or ten centavos for a triple scoop with a sugar cone. On the other hand, Magnolia Ice Cream’s Pinipig crunch, my other favorite, was only twenty five centavos. But twenty five centavos could also buy you a bottle of Cosmos Sarsaparilla and a piece of hopia (mooncake) at that time.
My friend and I watched Royal Rumble in SM North. It was my first time to watch WWE in a theater, and it has been yearssss since I last watched any wrestling show. Heck, it wasn’t even WWE back then, it was WWF. There have been tons of changes in rulings and wrestlers since then.
But damn, I enjoyed the show. At first we were surprised to see that the show cost P201. But it was worth it. We came out of the mall satisfied. I even cried while watching the fights, particularly the main event — the 30-man fight.

A little more than a decade ago, I was a young man in college despairing of what seemed to me like the injustice of living in uninteresting times. I mean, my parents spent their youth during the Swinging Sixties, by Jove. They were young and full of life and standing at the dawn of the moral and intellectual uprisings that would reshape the face of the globe in the coming generations. Never mind that my parents are generally of conservative temperaments and display none of the firebrand world-fokkery that the Sixties is known for. At least, none to my recollection. My parents are into Nat King Cole instead of the Beatles, Milo instead of LSD, Sunday mass instead of transcendental meditation, and the missionary position instead of clusterfornication. Of course, that last one was just an informed guess. The point is that they were there. Even if they did not really participate in it, they were bathed by the scouring fires of revolution.
This just in from Reuters: “Straightening children’s crooked teeth with braces may improve their smile but it is no guarantee of happiness and improved self esteem.
“A 20-year study by scientists in Britain that looked at the impact of braces on more than 300 children in Wales showed that having straighter teeth had little positive impact on their psychological health later in life…”

One common type of spreadsheet is a fill-in-the-blanks template. Typically, such a sheet will have a number of input cells, and a number of formula cells. You enter your data in the input cells, and the formula cells kick into action and use those values to display some type of (usually) useful result.
At some point, you may want to clear the slate and delete all the values in the input cells. Rather than scroll around and look for the non-formula cells, you can take advantage of an often-overlooked Excel feature that lets you select cells in a “special” way

Underdog? Think again
Humanity. ‘You live your best when you are able to see the greater value of life.’
People, the rational beings on earth. Gifted with wisdom, instinct and a ‘heart’ that makes us human.
Being human, is not easy. We are born in different country, religion, culture, traditions, race and dialect. This becomes our identity to the whole world. This hinders us to understand one another especially other person who was born in another foriegn land as well as imprison us to see the greatness of one’s heart.
People feel superior or either inferior of their own identity. People who are very loyal and attached to their own identity, would sometimes never see another greater human being except their own race. People who feel inferior of their own race, would run after and try to adopt others’ identity and feel better about it that what he was born of. Others does not feel anything of their own identity. Sometimes, at this point, humanity is slowly vanishing. One can only see the reflection of his identity in the mirror and never allow himself to look out the window and see the horizon, where the greatness of humanity lies that we are all living in the same sky.
It is sometimes a wonder, what if we are all born in one race, religion, culture, tradition and dialect. Maybe, one can see the heart and goodness of one’s person. No one in this world would experience racism, superiority or inferiority. Maybe there would be peace, freedom and humanity would live.
Sometimes it is a dream when there would be peace in the whole world, that everyone is united in peace. The world is beautiful and everyone is entitled to see, to embrace one another and another race, color, tradition with no descrimination. Maybe we are free to choose, to live and to explore the whole world and humanity. There would be no check-point at every boundery, no visas to claim, no descrimination and people are free to love and to choose what they wanted to be and with whom they wanted to spend their lives with. But this world sometimes is chained to their own identity and could never let go of it. Sometimes one does not feel freedom in their hearts.
‘Reality is a always a pricking needle to our hearts’.
If we just open our eyes and see humanity in every person, not where this person comes from, his race, color, religion, we could live to the fullest. Every person, no matter his identity is, there is always goodness in his heart. We just need to explore and not allow bad situations or one’s masks to see how great and unique one person is. We are all human and we will all perish one day to dust, but if we live to the fullest, the goodness we live will be forever remembered, through generations.
Freedom in our hearts would live forever!….
Books, how can you not live without them when you’re a writer? Inanimate objects with animated universes within, infinities chronicled with infinitesimal dots and finite chapters. They fuel your desire, they inspire, they demoralize, they hone your vocabulary, they humble your vocabulary, they kick your ass, they make you kiss the author’s ass. Basically, they do a lot of things, none of which are negligible.

I first saw the store while going around Glorietta. The store looked expensive. Since I was a frequent shopper at Beauty Bar, I could just imagine the prices that this store’s wares cost. I did not attempt to even browse as that time I was broke and payday was still eons away.
Yesterday, while waiting for sweetie to finish his shoot, I was left to stroll around the Eastwood City Mall for quite a while and so I did. A brightly-lit store with white walls beckoned to me. I walked over and discovered it was the Face Shop. A cosmetics store much like Body shop or Beauty Bar.

Nowadays, the word ‘friend’ is often spoken lightly & it’s value has diminished. Many of us will have the opportunity of making many friends throughout our lifetime but, how can we tell a true friend from a false one? Allow me to express my personal view regarding this matter. A true friend always does the following:
What friend…..
Bitin? Basa pa!
