One of the things you should not miss when you go to Bohol is the Loboc River Cruise. It is an hour or so boat ride upstream the Loboc River, from a point near the Loboc Church, up to what seems to be the beginning of the river, which is a short waterfall people call the “busai”, then downstream again back to the point where the cruise started. During my three-day duty at the OB-GYNE outpatient department, I was overwhelmed by the number of abortion cases. We had an average of five cases a day. At least one-third of these mothers had induced abortion, which means that they resorted to mechanical or chemical means to terminate their pregnancy. Usually they seek for consult because of fever and chills, and other associated symptoms of septic abortion.
Our city is just a small portion of the Philippines, yet there are already numerous induced abortion cases encountered. It made me think (or not like to think) of the rampancy of the case nationwide. Prolife.org say that every year, as many as 750,000 women undergo induced abortion in illegal “clinics” all over the Philippines. That’s how prevalent induced abortion is. It’s quite a frustrating number.

1. Where did you grow up, and what made that place special?
I grew up on a lovely tree-lined street in a quiet subdivision in Quezon City. When I was a child there were still many empty lots on our street and in the afternoons we would chase dragonflies and play with Makahiya plants. In the evenings there would still be fireflies. It was (and still is) a very safe neighborhood.
2. What was your favorite tv show, cartoon, or children’s show growing up? What did you like about these shows that made them your favorite?
I was a child of Sesame Street, The Electric Company, Eight is Enough and Little House On The Prairie. Melissa Sue Gilbert and I belong to the same age group
I loved all the wholesome family shows and would look forward to watching them every week-end. I also enjoyed Petrocelli, Starsky and Hutch and S.W.A.T.

For a few months after I bought my iPod Nano, I couldn’t find the right skins for it. As late as December 14 of last year, there weren’t skins and cases for the second generation of Nanos, at least in the Philippines.
Last week I finally got one, and I lurve it.

now a days people are too busy with their life and work..
they even forget to eat and to take a rest for them selves..
So asks military chief, Gen. Hermogenes Esperon Jr., when asked about the safety of witnesses — not that there are any, yet — who could or would testify against soldiers implicated in the political killings and suppression that has become commonplace in the regime of GMA. This comes in the wake of the Melo Commission - headed by retired Supreme Court Justice Jose Melo - tagging retired Maj. General Jovito Palparan as responsible, via the doctrine of command responsibility, for a fair share of the atrocities.
Really now, sir. You have to ask?

Kultura stages Oscar Wilde’s
The Importance of Being Earnest
&
Ang Kahalagahan ng Pagiging Seryo
On the heels of its successful staging of Yazmina Reza’s Tony Award-winning play Art, Kultura presents another ground-breaking theatrical experience: a double production of Oscar Wilde’s The Importance of Being Earnest. The original play in English will be presented alongside a new Filipino “transplantation” of the same play, entitled Ang Kahalagahan ng Pagiging Seryo. “Earnest” will have a 10-show run from Feb. 10 to 17, while “Seryo” will have a 10-show run from Feb. 21 to 28. Both plays are co-presented by JVC Everio Hard Disk Camcorder G Series.
Subtitled “A Trivial Comedy for Serious People,” The Importance of Being Earnest is Wilde’s most popular and successful work. It became an instant hit when it opened in London in 1895, and went to be generally acknowledged as one of the greatest comedies of all time. The play tells the story of two wealthy young gentlemen who escape responsibility whenever possible. Both masquerading under the name of “Ernest” (or “Sergio” in the Filipino version), they manage to win the love of their respective sweethearts, who both claim they could only love a man with that particular name. As expected, chaos breaks out when the truth is revealed, and the characters become entangled in a series of uproarious mistaken identities.
No, this isn’t about that Nicholas Sparks novel. This is about my notebook. So I was rummaging my drawers for something that resembles a scratch paper. It’s for my ideas for blog articles, so I can write them down. Yeah, I’m taking this blogging thing too seriously. If you ask me, I’d like to buy a little black book, which I shall call “My Little Black Book… of Ideas!!!” Or maybe not. Bookstores are just too crowded, and I don’t do crowds.
Anyway, my stupid search led me to discover the normal-sized neon green notebook I used back in college. Yes, it’s neon green. And on the cover is a simple paragraph in white text on a black box background.
WARNING: This notebook contains notes taken in class. Doodles derived from boredom and mood swings, may also appear often. Anyone who wants to get a decent grade is not advised to copy from this notebook.
This site isn’t smutty at all. You see adult ads but nothing pornographic. It’s like a guide for uhm, virgins or those who are totally inexperience to read.
I just have this feeling that the site was created by men for men to read.
Follow the yellow brick road.
I’m back! I was out, 20 days, but I’m back! Work pressures and some other thoughts made me stop blogging for a while… But the heck, I’m back in one piece.
Finally, Mayor Aguillo of Cabuyao, Laguna made up her mind in rehabilitating the Pulo-Diezmo Road. Damn, I bet that I be circumcised again if there will be no road repairs one week before the start of filing of candidacy. My 11 years stay in Cabuyao, Laguna is enough for me to predict what will happen during this period. Thanks God!

Windows VISTA finally [finally!! after 2 years!!] launches here in the Philippines… the formal launch will happen at the Mall of Asia on the 3rd of February [this coming Saturday]…
BUT, but, before you decide to take that plunge, note that Windows VISTA Upgrade Edition will likely frustrate all you XP users… according to the article, when you try to install the Upgrade Edition on a new machine, or a previously wiped out machine, Vista will not permit you to do a ‘clean’ install even if you could provide proof of possession or ownership of a previous version of Windows…
With Manila’s temperature hovering in the mid-60s Fahrenheit lately, posting this entry today may suggest wrong timing. Nonetheless, thought I’d better post it now instead of waiting another month or two before doing so.
This picture of a reproduction of a 19th-century ice box was taken inside Casa Manila in Intramuros. Although the museum’s no picture taking policy was strictly enforced on that particular day as in every time it is open, through a friendly request, one of the security guards allowed me to take a quick shot of it while no one else was around.
Many of you may already know about this, but it was only last year when I first learned from Carlos Celdran — while taking his Intramuros walking tour — that blocks of ice used to be exported to Manila from Boston. Smaller chunks of which would then be delivered house-to-house wrapped in cloth or rice husks on a horse-drawn cart. A typically-affluent household back then spent about a thousand pesos a month to get a daily delivery.
Just as no figures were available for Pinoy Top Blogs (PTB) last September 2006, there are again no figures for January 2007… But next month’s list should be more interesting. Rickey, who has occupied the top spot for seven of the last eight months—and, perhaps, ever since PTB started in July 2005—has abdicated his throne. Will Bryanboy finally get the chance to feel what it’s like to be on top? =)
