I’ve mentioned in this post how the Cambodians watch Pinoy teleseryes, how they adore Echo and Tin-Tin, and how they listen to Christian Bautista on the radio. I said that if you go to the market, you’d see the vendors watching Pangako Sa ‘Yo on their portable TV sets. But it appears that it’s not only the market vendors who appreciate us.

I’ve been planning it since end of Oct. And now I can finally talk about it here.

An invitational premiere to ‘ZsaZsa Zaturnnah’ the movie will be held tonight at SM Megamall. On Christmas day, the movie opens as part of the Metro Manila Film Festival, and with it, the journey of Carlo Vergara’s plucky superheroine from cult comicbook to blockbuster stage musical to highly-anticipated holiday release, by Mother Lily’s Regal Films no less, would seem to be reaching its apogee. ZsaZsa Zaturnnah is about to join its inspiration, Mars Ravelo’s Darna, in the pantheon of Pinoy pop-culture immortals. Fabulous!
Carver, do I hear you singing ‘What a journey it has been?’ (Chuckle). ZsaZsa’s creator has been candid enough to say that he conceived of his superheroine at a difficult time in his life, but you wouldn’t know it from reading the gut-bustingly funny comicbook he came up with. Or maybe you would. Humor as catharsis: What could be more classic?

So there I was, window shopping, when a jumper-clad sales assistant went up to me asking what I needed. Now this is a really annoying question in my opinion. If I wanted any help I would ask for it. And it was pretty obvious that I was only looking around. I try not to be an asshole outside of the internet so I politely told the man I didn’t need any help and that I was only looking around. He stepped back a little and just stood there. I swear I could feel his eyes burning holes on my back. It became a small war between us. Who would walk away first? Well, if you must know, I am the type of person who does not walk easily away from a manly challenge like that.
It was unfair for him, really. I had the upper ground right from the start. He’d probably been doing that same shit with other customers since that morning and was bored out his skull. I, on the other hand, had all these tools to look at, inspect, caress, and such. Finally, the man walked away. Five minutes later, so did I. I rule, motherfokker. It was a Pyrrhic victory, however. What should’ve taken me five minutes at the shop actually went over twenty. And that sales assistant was getting paid for what he just did.
Just look at The Eleven Satanic Rules of the Earth:
It looks nasty because we were conditioned to see anything related to Satan as anti-life, anti-good, and anti-whatever it is that warms the cockles of your heart. Take away all references to Satan and I’m sure you’ll agree that most of it looks pretty sound.

Christmas is just around the corner, and since I can’t think of anything else to write about, I’m posting my wish list – or at least the first installment of it. Listed below are some books I want.
Why books? The stupid reason is that I want to seem a bit more intellectual. Another reason is that I’m a geek – I love learning new stuff. You want another one? I’m sorry, but I can’t think of anything. I just know I want these books:
