“We’re not gay”

And what scene sparked those rumors that Matthew “Salma Hayek Dumped Me” McConaughey and Lance “I Dumped Sheryl Crow When She Had Cancer And Oh, I Had Testicular Cancer Too” Armstrong were more than friends again?

Isn’t it enough that they do everyfuckingthing together like high-pitched, giggly, and clingy girl best friends who have never had boyfriends since birth? But why, oh why, do they have to go jogging together shirtless? Shirtless! Is an extra .0098238mm of cloth enough to cause them to slow down by 1.32408 seconds? It’s Fall in the US! It’s not even supposed to be hot, damn it! Unless of course they’ve got the hots for each other. I’m sorry, but they just look so fucking gay in this photo. Not that there’s anything wrong about being gay, okay!

Hey, you! Yes, you! Click here if you think the Eagles’ “Victim of Love” (you know, “Victim of love, I see a broken heart. You’ve got your stories to tell. Victim of love, its such an easy part. And you know how to play it so well”) is a stupid song but would love to sing it in a videoke bar, anyway.

IT’S NOT EASY BEING GREEN

My dad is eccentric in the way most artists tend to be, and he doesn’t much care for what people might say about him. And although I sometimes shake my head when he explains his decisions, at times I am simply floored. For instance, if anyone remembers Makati in the ’70s and can still visualize the row of trees that dotted the center of EDSA, it might be interesting to know that we nurtured their mother tree, from which they all sprung, right in front of our house in between the front and side gates. The same tree that I used to think simply took up too much space and hid even more of the house, to me suddenly represented history, a remembrance of when the city I grew up in was not yet a harsh concrete jungle.

Providence, Rhode Island

Saturday
Oct 28,2006

My sister found this article in Time Magazine and so forced planned a family trip to Providence, Rhode Island. Duh, where? None of us really knew where Rhode Island was, much less Providence, but because she was makulit we all loved her, we obliged. So we were on the rhode again for the 124 km. trip and with a lot of help from the GPS tracking device and divine providence (since another sister was driving), we arrived at Providence, Rhode Island (all puns intended). There we found a charming very American city that artfully blends the old and the new. Here is a picture of downtown Providence.

Providence is the capital of the state of Rhode Island, one of the first thirteen colonies (the colonies which first rebelled against the British Crown and signed the Declaration of Independence). The State House is located here.

Para la juventud (For the youth)

My daughter talked about her priorities as a youth.

Here is one of the changes that happened:

A lot of things changed my perception of my once-hated duty: to study. My school, my course (since my parents supported what I wanted to take up) and the people I found and lost are some factors that sculpted my stubborn brain to what it is right now. It just hit me like a rolling volleyball that all of these books, words and equations are all helping hands in blue-printing my future.

The trouble with hello is goodbye

Saturday
Oct 28,2006

Lately, I’m becoming unsociable. Eversince I got back from my holiday, I didn’t meet up with any of my friends over here. I just wanted to be alone. I think I’m getting afraid of getting attached to people especially friends since I know in the end we will go on our separate ways anyway. I guess that’s one of the downside of being an expat, you do gain new friends but you always have to say goodbye after quite sometime.

Its Palace vs. The Firm

But why all the fuss about the Firm ? The close relationship betwen the Firm and the President’s hubby, Atty. Jose Miguel “Mike” Arroyo, is well known. The First Gentleman or the First Dude, as he is sometimes referred to, has long-standing ties to the Firm, going back to its founding by three young lawyers from the UP College of Law.read more?

Helping a Child Deal With Loss

Saturday
Oct 28,2006

My daughter and I lost two very special people in our lives at crucial points in our childhood.

When I was 16 years old, my father died from a massive heart attack at the age of 49. We weren’t able to say good-bye to him. I remember the day as if it took place only yesterday. Some memories stay with you for the rest of your life. P was 7 when her younger brother Migi died. He was four and they were as tight as tight could be. She wasn’t able to bid him good-bye either.more on how to deal with loss here

Teaching a child the value of money

Saturday
Oct 28,2006

Last week, my son wanted to buy the Star Wars Transformer he’s been eyeing for the last month. My wife finally relented and they went to Toys ‘R Us. My wife called me up and told my son to talk to me to see if I’ll allow him to buy it. I told him that he can buy it as long as he pays for it. Being 4 years old, he doesn’t really understand the concept of money and exchange yet. But I thought this might be a perfect way to teach him the value of money. So my wife paid for it and I told him that I will take the money he spent for the toy from his piggy bank.

Just like cow shit, this blog is, well, nilalangaw. Of course diss-anything.blogspot.com is barely even two weeks old. So really, I’m just being an impatient bitch. Nevertheless, a big shout-out to the kind bloggers who have been thoughtful enough to leave decent comments—and have unwittingly dissuaded me from tying a noose around my neck. So, forgive me for my sappiness, but thank you to nixxx, dexiejane, cyberpunk, ralphot, and miss diss anything—oh shit that’s me.

Here are some images that you guys can splash into those screens. They’re not much but I’m hoping they’d help in the continuing quest to bring more attention to the homeless animals. All of them are in the 1024×768 resolution so i think they’ll fit snugly into most monitors.
