Near the drugstore entrance, I spied a display selling Wacky Noodles for 99 cents. A Wacky Noodle is a foam rod about 4 feet long. It’s rigid, so that you can whack someone with it, yet soft enough to prevent injury. While Doug was checking out the $2 t-shirt special, I picked up a Wacky Noodle and hit him on the head with it. And again, and again.

When I got off Portage Avenue on Saturday, I started taking pictures of The Bay. At first I thought that I looked silly taking pictures but I saw at least two people also taking snaps so I didn’t feel silly after that. I can’t remember if it was Señor Enrique or Sidney who said that we should try to be tourists in our own cities so that we could appreciate the beauty of our hometown, or something to that effect, and I guess that was what I have been doing lately.
This is the typical Prison Break episode wherein practically nothing happens, but when something does almost happen, us fans just eat it up.
Somebody once told me that they feel the show has two sets of writers working to stump each other with their impossible twists:
Writers Team A: “…now the Fox River 8 are going to find the buried treasure so they can escape the country!”
Writers Team B: “Think again assholes, we just built a whole subdivision over your buried treasure! Take that Fuckers!”
Writers Team A: “Oh yeah? Well we’re gonna make Scofield and the guys know exactly under which house it’s buried by just looking at a couple of trees!”
Writers Team B: “SONOFABITCH! Well, we’re going to send the cops after them, and they’ll have nowhere to go. What are you gonna do now, huh?”
Writers Team A: “I’m not telling you until next week! Suck my Twist!”

It’s been three days since the last exam, and somehow, I’m still finding myself.
Last June 1, 2006, Search Engine Marketing (SEM) expert Marc Macalua of SEO Philippines, launched a Search Engine Optimization (SEO) contest. Aptly named Isulong SEOPH, the four month race ushers experts to promote SEO on this country by being ranking 1st on Google using the word Isulong SEOPH. The move was a success, as many Filipino, SEO professionals and non-professionals alike, piqued by the challenge and the price, joined.
Now, two days before the contest closing, a disgruntled sponsor, issued a letter to Marc, implying that Filipino Blogger are spammers. Now, this is the part where I show my teeth. Why? Because I am a Filipino, and what’s more I am a blogger.

Toni Gonzaga’s latest song, We Belong, sounds suspiciously similar to Hikaru Utada’s First Love. And Dice & K9′s Itsumo allegedly got its Japanese chorus from First Love, too.

Sometimes, a hug is all what we need. Free hugs is a real life controversial story of Juan Mann, A man whos sole mission was to reach out and hug a stranger to brighten up their lives.

This is yet another photograph of my lola Raymunda. But unlike the first one, she had a very unique expression in her face here. I can’t quite tell if she’s happy or sad. She even looks childish. This photo was taken in my lola’s house in La Union. On the technical side, this one is originally quite blurred and I tried my best to minimize the motion blur and sharpen the image. It didn’t end up in as a professional image, but at least I tried.

Driving home from work today, I saw a yellow Hummer 2 right next to me with a huge sticker on its tinted rear windows just above the spare tires. It read: Today! A soldier died so you could keep your freedom.
My immediate response was: Today! A soldier could have lived so he could enjoy his freedom.
It’s ironic that a gas-guzzling vehemoth of a vehicle they call H3 would display something like that, for many people now believe that we’re in the war in Iraq for oil and petroleum, and not in the name of freedom. We bomb Iraq and the other Middle East nations just so we could get some kind of control over the oil. After all, the US is the biggest energy consuming nation in the world, not to mention, the most wasteful as well. But as far as that sticker goes, it’s partially true, because that soldier can no longer enjoy the freedom he himself was fighting for.
I am a pacifist, as I prefer dialogue and dimplomacy until all those involved turn blue in the face. Unfortunately, if you have power, like the US, war is so inevitable, and we will wield are super police powers over anyone we think is trying to violate what we think is right. But then again, who really is right, right?
I pay respect to the soldiers that have lost their lives in the war, in any war for that matter. Each soldier has face, a family, a brother, a sister, a mother, a father, a husband, a wife…a story. Each story is different. With each story, is a life, a human being. But in the end, the only people that will see the end of this war are the dead soldiers themselves. How unfortunate.

A couple of months back I attended the World University Presidents Summit in Bangkok. The Filipino delegates were the biggest contingent. We envied the Thais. They have left us behind. We asked why? Our common answer was: Too much politics. If only our leaders learned to be servant-leaders. Read on.
