It was only the start, but there was already a twist! The Pinoy Dream Academy Headmaster, Jim Paredes, surprised us by announcing 4 more scholars who will be given the chance to enter the Academy; and, they are:
1. Joan Ilagan, Italy
2. Oona Baretto, Bukidnon
3. Richard Peralta, Australia
4. Davey Langit, Baguio

This is the first Government issued ID that i applied after 3 days of arriving here in Canada. The Social Insurance Number (SIN) is a nine-digit number used in the administration of various Canadian government programs.
I’ve had this idea stuck in my head for some time now.
I’ve noticed that there aren’t any local web sites posting really in-depth reviews of PC hardware. Oh, there are some magazines which post a couple of such reviews now and then, but most aren’t really that technical, aimed more at a general audience, too shallow for hardcore PC technophiles and gamers. More often than not, the reviewers are “too nice” and don’t really say if a particular piece of hardware is good for gaming, or merely a piece of proverbial crap. Reviews of this sort aren’t really helpful, and even confusing.
Also, there doesn’t seem to be any “boutique” computer assemblers specializing in assembling custom modded PCs or PCs especially spec’d for running games here in the Philippines. In the United States, a lot of brands cater specifically to this niche, including such well-known brands such as Alienware, Voodoo, Falcon Northwest, ABS, etc.
I came across something brilliant the other week. I don’t remember if I’d heard or read it (great, someday I might say or write something pretty darn smart and other memory-challenged folks like myself will forget I had anything to do with it. Anyway.) still I’ve been putting it to good use since then.

I can be a total asshole like what I’ve managed to be like ever since I learned that rubbing my penis produces a tingling sensation in my genitalia, up to when I learned how to use my used socks, the doormat, our sofa cover, the curtains, or just about anything that can wipe off the mess I just produced from playing with my bird as “Wet Ones”, up to when I last posted in this here blog giving only a hint that I’d be out of commission in a very long while, by simply continuing to ignore you – making your own conclusions as to “what went wrong?” and “where the hell is he now?” I just knew sooner or later I’d be sitting in my bed, in front of a laptop I borrowed from my roommate Tams, checking Tams’ porn movies (which he, apparently, painstakingly tried to hide in a folder he aptly named “Antivirus” – good work, buddy!) every once in while that I get the writer’s block (for inspiration), and explaining my case to hundreds of my readers at 2:35 AM on a Saturday. [And yet I still didn’t manage to post it on time. It’s Sunday already here in Dubai.]

The whole week I’ve been looking forward to the weekend and now it’s finally here, I just had to catch some sleep and do nothing at home…
I had my phone alarm last night but was too sleepy to get out of bed. There has been news circulating the net that Mars will be closest to Earth yesterday, August 26, 2006, and can be seen by the naked eye like a second moon…

Scientists have recently discovered the receptor that tells us mammals whether the food or whatever substance in our mouth is, is sour or not.
The tastes in mammals are classified as sweet, salty, bitter, sour and umami (the taste of monosodium glutamate or MSG). However, we have not been able to identify the taste recepetors for sour and salty tastes until now. Research by Charles Zuker of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute in San Diego have identified the protein PKD2L1 as a primary candidate.

Breakfast with the Vietnamese
Another thing I learned about the Vietnamese is that they are very lazy when in comes to breakfast. Our guide Lee Tien, told us that most of them after waking up and before going to work usually just stops by at the nearest corner food stall and eat a quick breakfast.

Come to think of it, isn’t true that you’re barely using the full capacity of your computer’s horsepower? You conduct a performance test only to find out that the fraction of your computer’s full capacity and capabilities that you use on your average e-life could be delivered by an another computer costing less than what’s on the price tag of your machine?
Simply put, you’re not using your computer to its full capacity, hence its full monetary value. That’s your hard earned-money idling away inside a metal box with a lease to be on the “latest model” shelf for barely three years.
Worry not too much. For there is hope in turning this investment into something worth every centavo you’ve sweated and toiled over for it.
Unlike many pompously self-important French films, Ils (They) has a surprisingly sparse script. Full of one-liners like Qu-est-ce que tu fais? (What are you doing) or Qu’est-ce qu’il y a? (Whats the matter) repeated over and over and over, my beginner’s French students would love this film. Click here to read the rest.
Visit Legaspi Mayon Eruption 2006 – That was the marketing slogan used to attract tourists to see the Mayon Volcano during an eruption.
Anyway, I went there with my sister last August 21-22. And sadly, I wasn’t able to see any action – due to increment weather. But it wasn’t all that bad, I actually learned a few things about the Bicolonian culture or society, particularly from Legaspi City. Let me enumerate: continue
Finding Nemo’s story supervisor was in town to talk about his experiences. Ronnie del Carmen was born in the Philippines, left when he was 29 years old, and found success in the US animation industry. Two weeks ago, Ronnie talked to a roomful of creative professionals about the primacy of story-telling in animation. Before textures, character designs, or voice-over artists, you gotta take care of the story first. Then he asked us – what stories do we as Filipinos have to tell?
Okay, okay. Before you start spewing off and telling me all I do is whine, whine, whine about Filipinos, being Filipino, and the Philippines, it’s time to write about my Pinoy Pride. Yes, I do find the Filipino Culture and the Philippines to be a very backward thing sometimes. With all the corruption, traffic, dirtyness, bad customer service, and I mean really bad, especially in Manila (in the province, it’s much better). Yet, there’s so many great things about being Filipino and awesome things about my beloved, country, the Philippines.

Imagine this: In a single day, I had gone to four houses of worship, witnessed two weddings, attended a centering prayer meeting, walked through Rizal Park, rested my weary feet at the lobby of Manila Hotel, enjoyed a walking tour of Manila’s Chinatown, and met fellow bloggers for the first time.
The little boy and I waited at the security office of this mall. I didn’t want to leave him alone with a couple of security guards, not with the horror stories I have heard of grown men abusing little boys and girls. I tried to comfort him as he whimpered, assuring him that his parents were on their way.
I had found him while shopping at the mall. He was probably about three years old, wandering around by himself, crying. I sat on my haunches to meet his gaze and asked him if he was looking for Mommy and Daddy. He nodded while crying loudly. I gave him my hand and told him that I was going to help him find Mommy and Daddy. So he willingly took it and continued crying as I led him to the security office of the mall.
