Still, despite the harsh economic realities, you’d still find a great number of young Filipinos, students especially, running around with the latest gadget technology can offer. The most visible representation would be the mobile phone; Nokia, SonyEricsson, Motorolla are just among the top brands whose latest models graze the hands, necks, bags and belt pouches of today’s students and young professionals. Add to this, the mp3 players from Creative, Sony and the much coveted iPod accompanying the newest models of mobile phones owned by the Filipino students today, one could easily assume that things are not so bad here in the Philippines. Or the Philippines is truly modernizing into the future or something else similar.Read more

Technically, I started out blogging last May 2005, and withing that span from May 2005 to July 2005 I had been making a lot of changes in terms of the theme of my blog. My first one was that of friendster, overall it was fine, but back then I feel that the articles written were not as eye catching as I expected, so I decided to scrap it out. Then afterwards, I moved to Blogger around June 2005 within that span of time, the same thing happended – the theme were not as eye catching as I expected. More…

While it is logically true that friendship takes time to develop, one of the first ingredients, I believe is both of you like and dislike generally the same things.

I’ll tell you a great story about the childhood days of John Maxwell. At a young age John was fond of playing basketball and his father was so much supportive about his hobby. As the younger brother, his father would usually go out with his elder leaving John with no problem as long as he got ball to dribble at home. More…

Revisiting Baguio

Friday
Jul 28,2006

…Yup, I did travel last week alone, and I prefer gallivanting alone. On Wednesday, July 19, 2006. I arrived in Baguio at exactly 4AM. What greeted me there was a bowl of steaming hot arroz caldo (rice soup with chicken bits).

Initiation, Part 3

Hip-hop music blared in the club. Several platforms, on which club patrons showcased their dancing, rose above the dance floor. On one such platform, Angie was dancing suggestively with a random girl. From behind. With slapping action.

A while later Angie motioned for me to get up on the platform. I can’t dance, but what the heck. I climbed up.

Rosanna’s dad loved to tease me, but even more so after he had read my diary. He used to say — repeatedly — my life would be glorious and tragic, like that of Marie Antoinette’s. What, I’d protest loudly, I’d get my head chopped off and have it fall in a bloody descent into an empty basket? He said I was missing the point. It was the way I’d live, not how I died, that would define me.

Iloilo impressions

Friday
Jul 28,2006

It seems Iloilo is divided between whether to love or hate Gloria Arroyo. On one hand, Raul Gonzales, the lesser (since the son is more reasonable) has the support of the Mayor and barangay captains of Iloilo City. On the other hand, ex-Senate President Franklin Drilon enjoys the support of the Iloilo governor.

Catholicism’s Mass

Friday
Jul 28,2006

If the Catechism is to be believed, then each time the Mass is performed, Christ’s work on the cross is made present and the work of our redemption is carried out.

But the Bible reveals that the work of redemption was a one time act which was completed when Jesus died on the cross:

“…but now once in the end of the world hath he (Jesus) appeared to put away sin by the
sacrifice of himself.” Hebrews 9:26

Another week of mastery tests are coming up next week. This means another weekend of study and review. I can, in my mind, already start to hear D’s complaints and whines. Plagiarist Reprimands Victim

Friday

The plagiarist left a comment.

I’m not going to react to everything he says because it’s not worth it, but take a look at these: “maybe it would have been better if you’d asked…” and “…viewing a positively committed mistake as a negative is worse than committing plagiarism as admitted.” More
